Blurb:

When I was seventeen, I had the perfect boyfriend. Nothing fancy, he went straight to my hips. He looked good on me. Now I’m home for our thirtieth class reunion, and I’m still hungry for him. Yes, it’s been decades, but every five years our high school reunion has brought us together again. With hot, then cold results. He’s on the menu again, and this time I have my own delicious way of making sure our meet-up will truly satisfy.

Excerpt:

Life is like a menu. You’ve got to make choices or you’ll either stuff or starve. I was never talented at the selection process. Clothes, lovers, hairstyles, jobs, real estate, BFFs, food: I’ve always made wildly random or slightly psychotic decisions. A few times in my life, however, I’ve bull’s-eyed. My high school boyfriend, for example, was perfectly on target.

Nothing fancy, he went straight to my hips. Plus, he liked me as a person. He looked good on me. Now, if that’s not the perfect man menu, I don’t know what would be.

He was all mine early on and he should have stayed that way. I thought he would. When we were seventeen, we were a power couple. I loved us.

We worked after school and on weekends at the local pancake house. I was Harried Young Waitress Over Easy. He was Cute Boy Under Glass. You could see him back there at the grill in his funny toque as soon as you walked in the front door.

Actually, another early flame of mine worked at Pancake King, too. The two guys were neighbors and best friends, but that didn’t stop me from necking with both of them. When I call it necking, you imagine fully clothed couples in dark corners, right? Choice of words is important here. I want you to like me.

Yes, I was a little loosey goosey. But really, my high school boyfriend was the long-range guy for me. Only I didn’t know it then. I was a dozen lovers away from realizing there’s one man for every woman. Like the ideal pairing: Bordeaux and Stilton cheese, Irish potatoes and freshly grated black pepper, Louisiana shrimp and minced garlic. These are the kind of tastes one develops with time and experience. As kids, our choices seemed unlimited, like you can have yourself one or both. Even more, if you want. It seems like you can have yourself everything on the menu.

Mickey_J._Corrigan

Originally from Boston, Mickey J. Corrigan lives and writes and gets into trouble in South Florida, where the men run guns and the women run after them. The tropics provide a lush, steamy setting for hot romance and Florida pulp.

Mickey has published fiction in literary journals and online magazines. Novellas include Dream Job, a cyber romance which has been compared to Twilight Zone and The Matrix; Professional Grievers, a romantic comedy set among funeral and wakes; Me Go Mango, a girls’ reunion gone wild; and Geekus Interruptus, the story of a not-so-bright woman who falls in love with a nerd. Sugar Babies is a novel about the soft prostitution industry. A thriller, the story follows three young women trying to pull themselves out of debt via arranged relationships with wealthy older men.

The Wild Rose Press is publishing Mickey’s new series, The Hard Stuff. Each novella in the series focuses on a tough woman in a tough situation who falls for a man—and not the best man in her current circumstances.

Mickey’s romances are not normal love stories. Her stories are gritty, wild and dark, but often darkly funny. The protagonists are kickass women. They have spunk and sass. Their romantic involvements are unusual. These are not nice girls pursued by men with bouquets of roses and bottles of champagne. Love comes hard, but it is oh so real.

Be sure to check out the other books in The Hard Stuff series. With these covers and titles like this, how can you resist?

Lynn Shurr with Paradise for a Sinner, Contemporary Novel

The best cure for a lost love is a new love.

Fun Fact: When I first thought of writing a book about a Samoan football player, I figured big, hunky guy,  hot steamy nights–until I discovered Samoans are religiously conservative and very family-oriented. My new theme became Adam Malala’s conflict with tradition ways and his life as a rich and famous athelete. Don’t worry. There are still some hot, steamy nights in the plot.

Liz Flaherty with THE GIRLS OF TONSIL LAKE, Women’s Fiction Novel

Four women whose differences only deepen the friendship forged in a needy childhood…

Fun Fact: I wrote The Girls’ story because I love girlfriend books and because all four of them presented themselves to me, personalities intact. It was so much fun. Jean’s a romance author and pretty much wrote her own story, Suzanne is based on one of my best friends (who recognized herself right off the bat and still talks to me), and Andie is closely related to my sister-in-law Lynn. The fourth friend, Vin, was–and still is, to a certain degree–a woman of mystery simply because I don’t know anyone like her. But I like her. I like her a lot.

Karilyn Bentley with Dragon Lover, Fantasy romance, novel,

When opposing dreams collide, will love be the victor?

Fun Fact: Dragon Lover is the third book in the Draconia Tales series and wraps up the trilogy. I enjoyed writing this story and letting the readers know the true identity of Fafnir, the hero. He’s first introduced in Magical Lover and returns in Warrior Lover. In Dragon Lover we learn who his mate is and why they spent their lives running from each other.

Anna Small with How To Marry A Rogue, Historical romance novel

Jack promises to protect his best friend’s little sister on her trip abroad. But is he the biggest threat of them all?

Fun Fact: Part of the story is set in Bordeaux, at the hero’s family winery, so I happily did some research at a local Florida winery. All that tasting and drinking really helped inspire me! The rest of the book is set in England, where I grew up in the beautiful countryside and went to school outside of London. I hope this experience gives my historical romances a flavor of their own.

Judy Ann Davis with UNDER STARRY SKIES, Western Historical Mystery Romance Novel

Romance happens under Colorado’s starry skies.

Fun Fact: The story of school teacher Maria O’Donnell teaching Indian Two Bears to read and write in 1875 evolved in “Under Starry Skies” since I had worked in adult education and understood the value of reading and writing for all adults. Two Bears was a minor, but favorite character in my first book, “Red Fox Woman.” I had to bring him back in the sequel since my readers fell in love with him. They also fell in love with the youngest Ashmore brother, Tydall, who’s my story’s hero.

Mickey J. Corrigan with Whiskey Sour Noir, Book #1 in The Hard Stuff series; a noir novella, dark romance.

Love is like a whiskey sour: you’ve got to watch out or it sneaks up on you. And it can be so bittersweet.

Fun Fact: One day the phrase “whiskey sour noir” just popped into my head. I loved it and wanted to create a story to go with it. A friend had told me about a close relative who had been labelled a sex offender, and how that had totally ruined the man’s life. So I used that concept as my theme.

When my editor at the Wild Rose Press called the novella “book #1,” a series was born. Each story takes place in the imaginary Dusky Beach, a seedy little Florida beach town where the women seem to drink too hard and fall too hard for the wrong kind of men.

After my editor Diana Carlile created the superb cover for Whiskey Sour Noir, she came up with the next title, Vodka Warrior. And another amazing cover. She is so awesome!

The next book in the series, Mai Tai Guy, will be a quickie and a free read. Book #3 is in line for editing. I’m not going to tell you which kind of liquor is up next in Dusky Beach. But I bet you can guess!

AND…

Mickey J. Corrigan Vodka Warrior: Book # 2 in The Hard Stuff series, a gritty romantic comedy novella.

Theresa Tierney is over the hill and drinking enough to roll straight down that slippery slope—and she blames it all on the body god next door.

Fun Fact: Vodka Warriors is the second book in The Hard Stuff series about tough women who fall in love with the wrong kind of man. The inspiration for this story came from my dental hygienist. She entertained me while cleaning my teeth, recounting the antics of a hard drinking woman at war with her neighbor, a younger man who partied daily with strippers.

The typical crazy South Florida tale became enlarged in my mind as I wrote about Theresa Tierney, the body god next door, and the other kooky characters in Vodka Warrior. Like Whiskey Sour Noir, Book #1 in The Hard Stuff series, the story takes place in the seedy town of Dusky Beach. This is where all the Hard Stuff women live—and love.

Wednesday’s Want, Wed, Waste: Late Night Talk Show Hosts

Hello and welcome to my version of the game, ‘F*@#’, Marry, Kill. This week we are WWW’ing hosts from late night talk shows.

Myself and some of my friends are sharing our Want, Wed, and Waste choices from this week’s list:

Jimmy Kimmell, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Myers

JK Late Night With Jimmy Fallon - Season 4 Seth_Meyers_2

Click on book titles below to learn more and to be taken to a buy link

******************************

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of DEATH NOTICE – A killer is using her obituary column to forecast his kills.  – LAST DAY of 99¢ SALE!

Want: Seth Myers. He is adorable!!! I haven’t watched him do late night talk show hosting, but I adored him on Weekend Update on SNL.

Wed: Jimmy Fallon. Also adorable, and I ‘want’ him too, but if I ‘wed’ him then I could hang out with him a lot, and his BFF is Justin Timberlake. Talk about a WIN-WIN!

Waste: Jimmy Kimmell. Don’t watch him, don’t have a reason NOT to waste him.

******************************

Sexy, French corporate raider meets idealistic philanthropist–true love or lust in passing? The French Resolution is now available at amazon  Nora Snowdon  is the Writer of Elegant Smut. Read more about her at www.norasnowdon.com

Want  seth myers – he seems young and energetic, just what the doctor ordered

Wed  jimmy fallon – he knocks my socks off (and could remove other articles of clothing any time he wants) with his humour and musical ability.

Waste  jimmy kimmell – I still can’t forget his horrendously misogynistic “man show.”   although if he asked me on his current show, I promise I won’t really waste him. I need the bucks.  😉

******************************

Linda McLaughin, w/a Lyn O’Farrell, author of Worth The Risk, contemporary romance.  Website: http://www.lindamclaughlin.com

Want: This was tough because I like both Jimmy’s, but I want Jimmy Fallon. He’s cute, with a great sense of humor, and I think he’d be a lot of fun to hang out with. And he even has his own Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream flavor. I loved the feud he had going with Stephen Colbert and the competition of who had the best ice cream flavor.

Wed: Seth Myers, because he’s really smart and funny and has the most adorable, shy (or is that sly) smile. I could wake up to that smile every day, no problem.

Waste: I hate to do this, because I have no reason not to like Jimmy Kimmel, but someone has to be wasted. 😦

******************************

Juli D. Revezzo, author of Passion’s Sacred Dance  He may be her savior in disguise, but can she trust him? ON SALE until May 9th at Amazon, The Wild Rose Press, and All-Romance Ebooks – Website: http://julidrevezzo.com/

Wed: JK at least is a Stevie Nicks fan like me, so definitely a keeper. 🙂

Waste:  Seth Myers, because somehow, I found him annoying.

Can I say Semi-want: Jimmy Fallon? He seems like a nice guy.

******************************

Now we’d like to hear from you….which of these Late Night Hosts would you Want, Wed, and Waste?

Thanks for playing!

He’s a rock star. She’s an ad exec. After almost having a one night affair in Sin City, Josh can’t get Cassie out of his mind. Why had she run out on him?

Like so many others, their romance started with a shot of tequila…

When the Josh Dunningham of Money Back Guaranteed tries to seduce her, Cassie is taken aback. Sure, he’s hot. And he could definitely rock her world. But can she have a fling with a man she doesn’t even know?

Like so many others, their romance turned rocky…

When Cassie returns to Chicago and finds a ten-foot tall Josh Dunningham on a radio station’s banner across from her office, she is tortured by memories of their short time together. When they meet again, things explode—in a bad way—and Josh has to prove himself to Cassie to earn her trust. But will he succeed when outside forces also want to tear them apart? When Cassie receives threatening letters and is attacked in her home, Josh is determined to find out who is behind it. But will the stalker’s encore performance bring an end to their show once and for all?

ROCK ME, GENTLY ~ COMING MAY 1ST!

To enter to win a free e-copy go to http://www.mjschillerauthor.blogspot.com! Drawing on Saturday, May 3rd.

Excerpt:

Josh steered Cassie toward an exit, hoping fresh air would help to sober her up. They ended up at the outdoor pool, a monstrosity complete with overhanging palm trees. Not a soul was in sight, unusual, even at this time of night.

Away from the casino hubbub, it was easier to talk. She eyed him. “Tell me about the band.”

“What do you want to know?”

“Well, as an advertising person, I’m interested in the gimmick, Money Back Guaranteed. Did you ever have to back up that promise?”

Josh took a couple of seconds to think about that. “Yeah. A few times. Once, when an elderly couple came with their granddaughter. They didn’t like the show at all.” Remembering their reaction, he grimaced. “And once, when a girl caught her fiancé in the hall with another girl. Hardly our fault, but, she didn’t enjoy the concert, and that’s our promise, so…” He shrugged.

“Interesting. Interesting.” She lifted a leg, grabbing his shoulder for balance, and tugged on the heel of her boot.

“Uhh…what are you doing?”

“My feet are killing me. You’re so lucky you are a guy and don’t have to wear heels.”

“Yes. I was just mentioning that to my friend, Ryan, the other day.”

She didn’t look up. Having successfully removed one boot, she switched legs to work on the other. “Really?”

He smiled. “No. Go on.”

Yanking the other boot off, she nearly toppled over, though still holding on to him. She squeezed his arm. “You’re built.”

He nearly laughed at her frank statement. “Thank you.”

Holding her boots in one hand, her brow furrowed as she concentrated on her next question. She began to balance on the edge of the pool, which was deserted, and scoop stepped, trailing one leg in the water, not seeming to mind at all that her jeans were getting wet.

“I don’t think that’s such a good idea,” he warned, taking her arm to steady her.

“I’m fine,” she assured him, breaking away for an instant to do a pirouette in the pool’s gutter to demonstrate.

“Okay, okay,” he muttered, grabbing her arm again. “No need to show off. So why are you in the advertising game?”

“I like the creative aspect of it. And, I can be very persuasive,” she said, smiling at him. As if he somehow silently challenged her, she stopped with a jerk and turned toward him, lifting up on her toes to kiss him. The taste of her was just as intoxicating as the booze had been, and left him equally dizzy. The flavor of sweet lime and midnight rolled across his tongue and sank into him unbidden. Someone in the hotel rooms surrounding the pool above them slammed a door, startling Cassie, the sharp sound almost like gunfire. She jumped away from him like she had been shot herself and started to lose her balance. He reached to save her, but too late, she fell into the pool, dragging him in after her.

MJ is a lunch lady in the heart of Central Illinois. My gosh, can you get more folksy than that? She met her husband at the University of Missouri-Columbia and now she has an nineteen-year-old (how did that happen?) and seventeen year old triplets! She loves to read, karaoke (where she can pretend she is a rock star) and spends WAY too much time on Facebook. She grew up in St. Louis and still has family there.

Savage Deception by R.T. Wolfe – and a $100 Gift Card Giveaway!!!

I am happy to share my review of Savage Deception by R.T. Wolfe. R.T. is a wonderful friend and a fantastic author. PLUS, you get a chance to win a $100 gift card!!! (See the entry link at the bottom of the post)

9781614175124
Blurb:
Busy juggling loan sharks and Amber Alerts, Detective Nickie Savage makes time when the FBI seeks her expertise with a child trafficking ring. But when Nickie discovers that the men running the ring are the same ones who abducted her as a young teen, the case gets personal. I should also state that short-term loans like the ones found at låna-pengar.biz/snabblan are their short period. Considering that these quick loans are accepted to you against your salary, you are expected to pay them off with the next wage cheque. Therefore, the loan period is between one and two weeks.
Risking her badge, Nickie goes rogue. Luckily, she has Duncan Reed, along with his wire tapping and surveillance expertise. But Duncan also wants to take their relationship to the next level.

Now, Nickie must choose: break her own rules and risk her heart or forge ahead alone.
My Five Star Review of Savage Deception:
Nikki Savage is one of those characters who are so interesting and likable, that you want to keep reading about them. She’s tough, yet has a sensitive side, and she has a very strong moral compass, but she will do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. I am so glad R.T. Wolfe his continuing the story of Nikki and Duncan. Like the others, Savage Deception is an edge of your seat, suspenseful, well-written, novel.

R.T. Wolfe Bio:

R.T. Wolfe enjoys creating diverse characters and twining them together in the midst of an intelligent mystery and a heart encompassing romance. It’s not uncommon to find dark chocolate squares in R.T.’s candy dish, her Golden Retriever at her feet and a few caterpillars spinning their cocoons in their terrariums on her counters. R.T. loves her family, gardening, eagle-watching and can occasionally be found viewing a flyover of migrating whooping cranes.

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of DEATH NOTICE – A killer is using her obituary column to forecast his kills.

Want: Jack Shephard. Although he wasn’t as hot as Sawyer, I found him very, very sexy, and I actually wanted him and Kate together. I guess we don’t always get what we want, right?

Wed: Hawkeye, I suppose, although I never could get into MASH. But, I do love a sarcastic, wise cracking soldier/doctor. And, I thought it was pretty cool, the little bit I saw of it, when he and Hotlips sort of had a thing brewing. I like the whole love/hate thing.

Waste: Dr. House. I thought more people liked him than they do, but if I’m not mistaken, we all want to waste him. I couldn’t get into the show, didn’t find him attractive at all, although with his real British accent, he was a lot more do-able.

******************************

Jannine Gallant, author of We’ll Never Tell, small town romantic suspense ON SALE now through Friday for only for .99¢!

Want: Dr. Jack Shephard—he’s hot in a guy next door sort of way. Okay, the one I really WANT from Lost is Sawyer. Oh baby! Dr. Jack is just the next best thing.

Wed: Hawkeye—what’s not to love? He was a great guy—sweet, funny, dedicated. Okay, maybe not the most handsome one in the bunch, but I refuse to waste Hawkeye!

Waste: House—the guy’s a jerk. Leaves me cold. Enough said.

******************************

M.J. Schiller, author of THE HEART TEACHES BEST Murder could be her final lesson.  – Website: www.mjschillerauthor.blogspot.com

M.J. is giving away a free ebook of The Heart Teaches Best to one lucky commenter!

Want: Dr. Jack Shephard, Matthew Fox is a hottie! (But to be honest, I’d rather have Sawyer from Lost ~ he’s got that whole bad boy thing going for him!)

Wed: Hawkeye. He’d just be so much fun to hang with!

Waste: House, he’s just too dark for me. I’m not big on heavy sarcasm. Light sarcasm I can do, but don’t want it edgy.

******************************

Diane Burton, author of ONE RED SHOE  Wannabe writer rescues wounded spy while risking her heart. Website:  www.dianeburton.com

Want & Wed: Dr. Jack Shephard. Hot. Take charge guy, dependable.

Waste: Both House & Hawkeye. House. He is so sarcastic. His dependence on pain killers is understandable, but not his method of getting them. Hawkeye: too little boy cute; practical joker (which isn’t all that bad). I just can’t see wanting or wedding him.

******************************

SILVER JAMES, author of BLOOD MOON – MOONSTRUCK 1 (Warning: Pursue an alpha Wolf at your own risk. Hot sex, bad words, and action of the blood and guts kind will ensue.), BLOOD MOON and all the books in the Moonstruck series are on sale this week. Website: www.silverjames.com

Want: Dr. Jack Shephard. He’s gorgeous and more than ready to perform mouth-to-mouth.

Wed: House. I’m old. He’ll fix me. And we’ll be curmudgeonly together.

Waste: Hawkeye. Had to waste someone and I was more a Col. Potter fan. I know. No accounting for my tastes!

Now we’d like to hear from you….which of these sexy tv doctors would you Want, Wed, and Waste?

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of DEATH NOTICE – A killer is using her obituary column to forecast his kills.

Want: Jolly Green Giant. Well, I love vegetables, he’s jolly, and he’s giant, so I’m sure he’d be a blast to hang out with…and tons of fun in the sack.

Wed: Mr. Clean – I’m sure he’d clean my house, and that makes him win for husband material, hands down.  I can’t think of another reason why I would even need a husband, so he may be my ultimate fantasy man now that I think about it.

Waste: Brawny Man. He’s too outdoorsy, and I’m an inside kind of gal. I want to just chill inside, in my clean house, after I’ve had a romp with JGG (That’s my nickname for my lover, Jolly Green Giant).

***********************

Kae Elle Wheeler, http://kathylwheeler.com The Wronged Princess – book i,  new and revised!

Want: The Brawny Man is strong, outdoorsy. But does he clean house?

Wed: Mr. Clean is hot. And Clean. I could do him. Plus, he cleans house. He’s a keeper.

Waste: The Green Giant, is green and I hate peas. That’s what I think of. Have to waste him.

**********************

Juli D. Revezzo,  author of  Drawing Down the ShadesBusiness can be hell… Website: http://julidrevezzo.com/

I’ll take the Brawny man for the win…Errr, I mean the Want, Mr. Clean for the Wed (because, hey, he’ll clean my house!) and the …oh, shoot. Do I have to waste the Green Giant? Okay, we’ll use him for fertilizer in the garden. 😉

**********************

Layla Chase is one of the contributing authors to Cowboy Heat, an erotic anthology of cowboy-themed short stories, released by Cleis Press.    www.laylachase.com

Want—The Brawny Man—who doesn’t love a man in plaid flannel? I spent 3 years in Oregon and saw lots of plaid flannel shirts and even attended a lumberjack competition on July 4th and rain fell!

Wed—The Jolly Green Giant—I picked him as husband material because with all his contacts with the growers, he’d be a good provider.

Waste—Mr. Clean—shaved heads are just not my thing. I fail to see how this style is sexy at all.

SILVER JAMES, author of THAT OL’ BLACK MAGIC (Werewolves, Fae, and Dragons, oh my! What’s Sade Marquis, a human FBI agent, to do? Solve the crime, of course.), BOOK LINK: ), Website: http://www.silverjames.com

Want: The Brawny Man. I mean, who doesn’t love a man in flannel with muscles? And he’s a lumberjack. He knows how to take care of his wood.

Wed: Mr. Clean. Hellooooo! The man does housework! What’s not to love? Plus, I think he’s way sexy. (PS, I happen to know his human model — a Norman fireman. *nods* Really!)

Waste: The Green Giant. Okay, size might matter but the dude is green! He clashes with my decor. And I’m not big on veggies.

Want: Mr. Clean- he’s muscular and has an attractive self-confidence. You can tell by the way he stands there with his arms crossed. But I HATE cleaning, so I wouldn’t keep him around long.

Wed: The Brawny Man- I always thought he was hot. Kind of in a Tom Selleck way. Plus, if we needed firewood, he’d be all over that.

Waste: The Jolly Green Giant- I’m not big on vegetables.

Wednesday’s Want, Wed, Waste – Jane Austen Heroes

Hello and welcome to my version of the game, ‘F*@#’, Marry, Kill. This week we are WWW’ing actors/characters in Jane Austen movies/TV shows.

Myself and some of my friends are sharing our Want, Wed, and Waste choices from this week’s list:

Matthew MacFadyen as Mr. Darcy, Rupert Penry Jones as Captain Wentworth, Jonny Lee Miller as Mr. Knightley

darcy rupert knightly

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of DEATH NOTICE – A killer is using her obituary column to forecast his kills.

Want: Mr. Darcy – I must admit, I still haven’t watched ANY Jane Austen movies. Ugh…I swear, I will one of these days. But for now, I have to base it on what I know/see. I watched a clip of Mr. Darcy and the girl out in the rain, and it was very emotional, very sensual. I adore rain, so I would have to want Mr. Darcy.

Wed: Mr. Knightley – Just because he’s the most appealing of the two who are left over, and I would rather Wed him than Want him, because Mr. Darcy is sexier. (Do the heroines in Jane Austen novels actually call these guys by “Mr.” or “Captain” so and so? Even in the throes of passion?)

Waste: Captain Wentworth. He is the least attractive of the three, although if I saw these three guys in action, I might change my mind. Besides, making her call him “Captain”….isn’t that a bit pretentious? Or, is he actually a captain?

Want: Matthew MacFadyen as Mr. Darcy. He brings an intensity to the role that neither Colin Firth nor Laurence Olivier could, though their Mr. Darcy’s were more elegant and perhaps true to the book. I like the notion of an Atlas-sized Mr. Darcy, since he does willingly shoulders the troubles of the world, or at least the part of it he controls, which is not inconsiderable. But I put him in the want category because marriage to such a paragon would be a bit daunting, esp. having to deal with Lady Catherine de Burgh!

Wed: Rupert Penry Jones as Captain Wentworth. I’ve always had a fondness for naval gentlemen, and I love Rupert Penry-Jones. The only fault I see in the casting is that he’s too fair to be believable as a sea captain. (They were perpetually tanned from being outside in the sun and wind.) He is handsome though, and does a good job of portraying the reserved captain who never got over his first love. Persuasion is Austen’s most emotional book, IMO, and the movies always touch my heart.

Waste: Jonny Lee Miller as Mr. Knightley. This doesn’t seem right, but Emma is the least romantic of the three movies. It’s really the education of Miss Emma Woodhouse–19th c. chicklit, really–and Mr. Knightley seems more best friend/older brother than prospective suitor. It’s not Jonny Lee Miller’s fault, but rather the limitations of the character as written. I hadn’t seen this version of Emma and it was fun to watch. I’ve always found Mr. Knightley less dashing than Austen’s other heroes, though he’d be good husband material. But if I have to choose between Mr. Knightley and Captain Wentworth, I’ll take my sea captain.

Alicia is killing me with this round of choices because I LOVE all these movies.

Want – Jonny Lee Miller as Mr. Knightley – I enjoy Jonny Lee Miller in this movie and also his series, Elementary. I’d probably wed him except he was once married to Angelina Jolie, which worries me more than a little, and he has some affectations that might get on my nerves. I’d definitely like him to court me for awhile, though! The way he sighs when Emma reveals her feelings for him is truly swoon-worthy.

Wed – Rupert Penry Jones as Captain Wentworth – This character drives me a little crazy when he leaves the recital after Anne throws herself all over him, but that is Jane Austen’s doing. I think Rupert Penry Jones absolutely nails the pivotal interaction that gives Anne renewed hope with the way he delivers the line: “A man does not recover from such a passion with such a woman. He ought not. He does not.” I just melt. And the way he looks at her in both the kiss scene and the end of the movie shows that he will be attentive and faithful to the end!

Waste – Matthew MacFayden as Mr. Darcy – Matthew MacFayden does a wonderful job in this role. My family will tell you I’ve about worn out my DVD of this movie, so it is pretty surprising to discover that he is not my type. I can’t even figure that out because I absolutely adore Richard Armitage who has a similar build, coloring, and voice, but Matthew doesn’t really light my fire. Sorry Mr. Darcy!

Choosing between Jane Austen’s heroes is very difficult for me but here goes….

Want: Persuasion – Rupert Perry Jones as Captain Wentworth. Sigh. The passion in the Captain as played by Rupert Perry Jones gets me EVERY time…and I do try to watch this one at least twice a year! The glances he steals of Anne throughout the story smolder as he tries to conceal his passion, but his final declaration, and the kiss at the end of this one makes me think these two will enjoy a very happy marriage bed.

Wed: Emma Masterpiece – Jonny Lee Miller as Mr. Knightley. First, Johnny Lee Miller gives the best performance of Knightley to date! His portrayal of Knightley conveys the thoughtful, honorable traits of Knightley while also exposing his depth of emotion for Emma plain for everyone (except her) to see. His love and understanding of Emma and her family situation makes him perfect husband material.

Waste: Pride and Prejudice – Matthew MacFayden as Mr. Darcy. As much as it pains me, and it DOES, someone has to go in the waste column. While perhaps not my favorite portrayal of Mr. Darcy (See Colin Firth, BBC Version THE POND SCENE) Matthew MacFayden portrays a very passionate Darcy, one that it would be hard to say no to. “You have bewitched me body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you…” Amazing moment in the movie, sigh. Damn. I want them all. I’d wed them all. I’d let nothing go to waste! But in this instance, sorry Matthew!

Want—Rupert Penry Jones—his performance was understated and confined, which makes me think there was so much more under the surface to be discovered.

Wed—Matthew MacFadyen—he stepped into big shoes to play this role and within the first couple of scenes, he made me believe in his sincerity and steadfastness.

Waste—Jonny Lee Miller—he was good in this role but I wasn’t convinced that such a high-energy performer was the calm and laid-back Mr. Knightley.

Juli D. Revezzo, author of Passion’s Sacred Dance, He may be her savior in disguise–but can she trust him?

Want: Rupert Penry Jones

Wed: Johnny Lee Miller (He seems like a sweetie)

Waste: Matthew MacFayden (Sorry. But his portrayal of Darcy was just *too* depressing)
