Annette Miller, with Night Angel, a paranormal novella

True love does conquer all.

Fun Fact:  As a superhero fan, I always loved the fact that the heroes would win. The battles were always epic. Then I got to thinking. Heroes need love too. And the idea was born. I love romance and heroes. It just seemed natural to put them together.

A few lines from the story…

But didn’t this kind of stuff always happen in fairy tales? The path to true love was always filled with obstacles. Yes, she thought. But why does my path have major construction signs?

Melissa Snark with The Mating Game, Erotic Paranormal Novel

Two males…two friends…a competition for the right to claim The Heart of the Iron Stone Pack

Fun Fact:  My hero, Zachary Hunter, is an author of suspense thrillers. Throughout the story, he comically falls prey to many of the foibles of writers everywhere: writer’s block, procrastination, not accepting criticism well, editor issues, people having issues about how his characters should act, and being tuned out to important real life developments because he’s “in the zone”. Most of the jokes are private and I may be the only one who actually think they are funny.

A few lines from the story:

“Oh, Zach.” Theresa sighed into the phone. The sound of her weight shifting atop fabric reached his ears. “What am I going to do with you?”

“I could offer all manner of suggestions.” Zach’s mouth went dry, and his voice had acquired a sultry tone, deliberately suggestive, a hint of the lewd.

Lynn Shurr with Paradise for a Sinner, Contemporary Novel

The best cure for a lost love is a new love.

Fun Fact: When I first thought of writing a book about a Samoan football player, I figured big, hunky guy,  hot steamy nights–until I discovered Samoans are religiously conservative and very family-oriented. My new theme became Adam Malala’s conflict with tradition ways and his life as a rich and famous athelete. Don’t worry. There are still some hot, steamy nights in the plot.

Liz Flaherty with THE GIRLS OF TONSIL LAKE, Women’s Fiction Novel

Four women whose differences only deepen the friendship forged in a needy childhood…

Fun Fact: I wrote The Girls’ story because I love girlfriend books and because all four of them presented themselves to me, personalities intact. It was so much fun. Jean’s a romance author and pretty much wrote her own story, Suzanne is based on one of my best friends (who recognized herself right off the bat and still talks to me), and Andie is closely related to my sister-in-law Lynn. The fourth friend, Vin, was–and still is, to a certain degree–a woman of mystery simply because I don’t know anyone like her. But I like her. I like her a lot.

Karilyn Bentley with Dragon Lover, Fantasy romance, novel,

When opposing dreams collide, will love be the victor?

Fun Fact: Dragon Lover is the third book in the Draconia Tales series and wraps up the trilogy. I enjoyed writing this story and letting the readers know the true identity of Fafnir, the hero. He’s first introduced in Magical Lover and returns in Warrior Lover. In Dragon Lover we learn who his mate is and why they spent their lives running from each other.

Wednesday’s Want, Wed, Waste: Late Night Talk Show Hosts

Hello and welcome to my version of the game, ‘F*@#’, Marry, Kill. This week we are WWW’ing hosts from late night talk shows.

Myself and some of my friends are sharing our Want, Wed, and Waste choices from this week’s list:

Jimmy Kimmell, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Myers

JK Late Night With Jimmy Fallon - Season 4 Seth_Meyers_2

Click on book titles below to learn more and to be taken to a buy link

******************************

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of DEATH NOTICE – A killer is using her obituary column to forecast his kills.  – LAST DAY of 99¢ SALE!

Want: Seth Myers. He is adorable!!! I haven’t watched him do late night talk show hosting, but I adored him on Weekend Update on SNL.

Wed: Jimmy Fallon. Also adorable, and I ‘want’ him too, but if I ‘wed’ him then I could hang out with him a lot, and his BFF is Justin Timberlake. Talk about a WIN-WIN!

Waste: Jimmy Kimmell. Don’t watch him, don’t have a reason NOT to waste him.

******************************

Sexy, French corporate raider meets idealistic philanthropist–true love or lust in passing? The French Resolution is now available at amazon  Nora Snowdon  is the Writer of Elegant Smut. Read more about her at www.norasnowdon.com

Want  seth myers – he seems young and energetic, just what the doctor ordered

Wed  jimmy fallon – he knocks my socks off (and could remove other articles of clothing any time he wants) with his humour and musical ability.

Waste  jimmy kimmell – I still can’t forget his horrendously misogynistic “man show.”   although if he asked me on his current show, I promise I won’t really waste him. I need the bucks.  😉

******************************

Linda McLaughin, w/a Lyn O’Farrell, author of Worth The Risk, contemporary romance.  Website: http://www.lindamclaughlin.com

Want: This was tough because I like both Jimmy’s, but I want Jimmy Fallon. He’s cute, with a great sense of humor, and I think he’d be a lot of fun to hang out with. And he even has his own Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream flavor. I loved the feud he had going with Stephen Colbert and the competition of who had the best ice cream flavor.

Wed: Seth Myers, because he’s really smart and funny and has the most adorable, shy (or is that sly) smile. I could wake up to that smile every day, no problem.

Waste: I hate to do this, because I have no reason not to like Jimmy Kimmel, but someone has to be wasted. 😦

******************************

Juli D. Revezzo, author of Passion’s Sacred Dance  He may be her savior in disguise, but can she trust him? ON SALE until May 9th at Amazon, The Wild Rose Press, and All-Romance Ebooks – Website: http://julidrevezzo.com/

Wed: JK at least is a Stevie Nicks fan like me, so definitely a keeper. 🙂

Waste:  Seth Myers, because somehow, I found him annoying.

Can I say Semi-want: Jimmy Fallon? He seems like a nice guy.

Now we’d like to hear from you….which of these Late Night Hosts would you Want, Wed, and Waste?

Thanks for playing!

Wednesday’s Want, Wed, Waste – Boy Bands

Hello and welcome to my version of the game, ‘F*@#’, Marry, Kill. This week we are WWW’ing former boy band members who went on to have careers of their own.

Myself and some of my friends are sharing our Want, Wed, and Waste choices from this week’s list:

Justin Timberlake from N Sync, Ricky Martin from Menudo, Mark Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of KILLER LOVE – Boxed Set of Four Romantic Suspense titles ON SALE for 99¢ – Nothing to Fear, Truly Madly, Poetic Injustice, and Tears of the Wounded

Want: Mark Wahlberg- (I want Justin more, but I also want to marry him, so I’ll put Mark in the ‘Want’ slot.) I love his acting, and he’s sexy, especially when he plays a badass. He’s extremely talented, and just look at that body!

Wed: Justin Timberlake – Yes, I know he’s way too young for me (as are Ricky and Mark), but we’re playing make believe here. Justin is amazing!!! He’s the total package. He can sing, dance, act, and he’s SO funny. Also, I love what I know of him as a person. (I’ll just have to overlook his huge flaw of marrying Jessica Biel, ugh!) Anyway, he has a wonderful personality and a kind heart. I love the story about how he goaded Mila Kunis into attending an event with a soldier, then he himself accepted an invitation from a soldier too. How man celebrities would do that??? Sigh… Plus, he’s from Memphis and he does a tribute to Elvis in his concerts. His movies are fantastic…he’s just close to perfect! I also think it’s adorable the way he randomly shows up on Saturday Night Live and Jimmy Fallon’s talk show. And, their bro-mance is adorable too. Uhm, so, can you tell I like Justin????

Waste: Ricky Martin. I think he’s talented, but I only slightly like his music. He’s attractive, but doesn’t have the charisma that appeals to me. I’m afraid he just doesn’t do it for me. I do, however, admire his humanitarian efforts. But, when up against the other two, he definitely draws a ‘waste.’

**********************

Author Jessica E. Subject, author of Satin Sheets in Space – Will her fantasies become reality with two sexy aliens?  ON SALE for $0.99 through April 12 – Website http://jessicasubject.com

Want: Justin Timberlake – I’m not a huge fan, but I think he would be a lot of fun.

Wed: Mark Wahlberg – He’s cute, and I love his family. Have you ever seen The Wahlbergers?

Waste: Ricky Martin – Sure, I listened to Menudo, but I wasn’t a big fan. He’s just at the bottom of the list of the three.

**********************

Qwilla Rain, author of Revealed: A Poker Posse Story     Loose Id link: http://www.loose-id.com/revealed-a-poker-posse-story.html  Blog/Website: http://authorqwilliarain.blogspot.com

Want–Ricky Martin. The man has some great music and he has some awesome moves. There’s the added bonus of his being bilingual so when he’s whispering the sweet nothings in my ear, he can do it in English and Spanish. I think it’s wonderful that he announced his homosexuality on his terms, makes him that much sexier.

Wed–Mark Wahlberg. I would have put him in the Want category as well, but if I wed him, I get him all the time! He’s multi-talented and I enjoy that bad boy/lost soul vibe he’s got. His skills are amazing and the body!! Having access to that any time I want…oh yeah, wed. Definitely Wed!

Waste–Justin Timberlake. Sorry but the boy does nothing for me. There are a few of his songs that I like, but for the most part he seems like all fluff and no substance. And staged costume failures with other singers so immature…

Now we’d like to hear from you….which of these Former Boy Band Guys would you Want, Wed, and Waste?

Thanks for playing!

Wednesday’s Want, Wed, Waste: French Actors

Hello and welcome to my version of the game, ‘F*@#’, Marry, Kill. This week we are WWW’ing French Actors.

Myself and some of my friends are sharing our Want, Wed, and Waste choices from this week’s list:

Gilles Marini, Benjamin Millepied, Olivier Martinez

**********************

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of DEATH NOTICE (Northland Crime Chronicles, Book 1)  – A killer has something to say, and he’s using her obituary column to get his point across…

(I don’t know these actors, so I’m going by what little I do know, and the superficial ‘looks’ thing. :))

Want: Benjamin Millepied – He’s gorgeous, and although he’s a ballet dancer, he’s very masculine. He’s confident and sexy, he has some kind of charisma about him that’s irresistible. And, how cool would it be to have a fling with Natalie Portman’s husband?

Wed: Gilles Marini – I’m not sure what kind of husband material he’d be, but who cares? Have you SEEN this guy? YUMMMM

Waste: Olivier Martinez –  He just doesn’t do it for me, although I haven’t seen him in anything other than photos. (That I recall). I don’t like those squinty eyes. (Let’s face it, he doesn’t have that sexy, badA$$ Clint Eastwood squint. He just has really tiny eyes)

**********************

SILVER JAMES, author of THAT OL’ BLACK MAGIC  Werewolves, Fae, and Dragons, oh my! What’s Sade Marquis, a human FBI agent, to do? Solve the crime, of course. Website: http:/www.silverjames.com

Want: Benjamin Millepied. He’s a dancer. And choreographer. That means he has moves. And stamina. 😉 Oh, and he’s pretty darn easy on the eyes, too! And did I mention that he’s limber? Just sayin’… 😀

Wed: Gilles Marini. He’s a dancer, too, but not professionally. When he took his shirt off for the tango during Dancing With the Stars, I was a goner. I swooned. No, really. Swooned, I tell you! He’s sooo darn sexy that he could be a lover and a husband. But…I wouldn’t want to wear him out so Benjamin can come visit.

Waste: Olivier Martinez. Sorry, dude. You just don’t do it for me. You might be all about the “Revenge” but I’m a lover, not a fighter. Most of the time. 😉

*******************

Layla Chase, author of Up And Coming, an erotic romance that features a Latin hero who seduces with his dancing ability.  Website:  www.laylachase.com

Want—Olivier Martinez—those intense looks he gave Diane Lane in the movie Unfaithful were scorching and the love scenes were combustible.

Wed—Gilles Marini—I have a secret fantasy over guys who are accomplished dancers and often include a sexy dance scene in my erotic titles.

Waste—Benjamin Millepied—can’t deny that I think there’s something a wee bit creepy about romances that occur while a movie (Black Swan) is in production.

*******************

Linda McLaughlin, author of ROGUE’S HOSTAGE — His hostage… Her destiny…
Website: http://www.lindamclaughlin.com

Linda is offering a FREE ebook copy of Rogues’ Hostage to one lucky commenter!!!

Want: Olivier Martinez. Not only is he gorgeous, he’s charming and has a cute sense of humor. I watched some interviews at YouTube, and he said that, as an actor, he’s the “shame” of his family of boxers and mechanics. LOL. This Sunday Olivier is starting a multi-episode arc on REVENGE, and I’m looking forward to watching.

Wed: Gilles Marini. Another handsome, charming Frenchman. Gilles isn’t just a good actor, he can dance and cook, too. Perfect marriage material, methinks. I enjoyed his stint on Brothers and Sisters as Rachel Griffiths French lover.

Waste: Benjamin Millepied. I hate to have to do this. Benjamin is an incredible ballet dancer, and I do love the ballet. But I could only find one movie he was in, BLACK SWAN, and he had such a small role, I didn’t even realize who he played until I got to the credits. Apparently his main job was choreographer and he did a fabulous job. But I fell in love with the film, not the actor. If you haven’t seen it, the movie is terrific, suspenseful and visually beautiful. Natalie Portman deserved her best actress Oscar.

*************************

Now we’d like to hear from you….which of these sizzling Frenchmen would you Want, Wed, and Waste?

Thanks for playing!

Want, Wed, Waste: Cowboys

Hello and welcome to my version of the game, ‘F*@#’, Marry, Kill. This week we are WWW’ing Actors in Cowboy Roles.

Myself and some of my friends are sharing our Want, Wed, and Waste choices from this week’s list:

Clint Eastwood, Tom Selleck OR Sam Elliott, Paul Newman as Butch Cassidy

clint Sam&Tom Paul-Newman-as-Butch-Cassidy

Click on book titles below to learn more and to be taken to a buy link

**********************

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of DEATH NOTICE (Northland Crime Chronicles, Book 1)  – A killer has something to say, and he’s using her obituary column to get his point across…

Want: Clint Eastwood. YUMMM….I have always found him exceptionally sexy. I admire his talent and brilliance so much. I am beyond amazed at how he keeps directing and starring in phenomenal movies, even in his eighties. And, yes, I would still ‘want’ him just like he is at this moment. STILL sexy!

Wed: Paul Newman. His blue eyes and sexy smile, sigh… I adored Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, among the other Paul Newman/Robert Redford movie pairings. Paul was gorgeous and from what I can gather, a terrific husband.

Waste: Sam and Tom. UGH…sooooo hard. But, unlike some of my fellow authors, I’m following the rules. SO, I must waste these two gorgeous, rugged, sexy cowboys. Now, before I waste them, I would, uh…have some fun. 😉

**********************

JANNINE GALLANT, author of ASKING FOR TROUBLE ~ Will a demon in a diaper bring them together—or tear them apart forever? Available FREE on Amazon now until Feb. 22nd!   Website: http://www.janninegallant.com/

Want: This is easy. Clint Eastwood in his Spaghetti Western days is just too, too sexy. That glimmering stare and go to hell attitude. Oh my! He can carry me off into the sunset on a horse any day.

Wed: Paul Newman (sigh). Those baby blues look straight into your soul. And talk about handsome… I’d have to marry him because he must know how to cook with all those food lines. Right?

Waste: Sorry Sam. The man never did much for me. As for Tom Selleck—rugged and sexy without a doubt, but I’m not a fan of mustaches. I’d have to waste them both!

**********************

Darcy Flynn, author of Rogue’s Son – Kit doesn’t need a man, thank you very much! Website/Blog: www.darcyflynnromances.com

Want: Clint, you’re one cool guy and handsome to boot. Your ‘spaghetti westerns’ always called to me. Yep, I’d enjoy a fling in one of those honky-tonks!

Wed: That’s easy. Tom Selleck. He’s tall, dark and extremely good-looking. And that twinkle in his eye does something to my innards. J Plus, I’ve always wanted to kiss a man with a mustache! Sigh

Waste: Paul “Butch Cassidy” Newman, normally, you’d be my man. You’re adorable and your piercing, blue eyes make me swoon. But, since you die in the end anyway, I guess I’ll have to let you go.

**********************

Linda Carroll-Bradd is the author of contemporary rodeo story, Tie Down My Heart. Website www.lindacarroll-bradd.com

Want—Paul Newman—I had a major crush on him in high school. Went to see “Butch Cassidy” 6 times in the movie theatre in its initial release—which was fairly unheard of among my friends.

Wed—Sam Elliott—who wouldn’t want to listen to his gorgeous voice every single day? Even now, I don’t fast-forward through whatever commercial (beef or trucks) when I hear his voice-over.

Waste—Clint Eastwood—can’t get all those Italian-made westerns out of my head and hate squinty eyes in a hero

**********************

SILVER JAMES, author of THAT OL’ BLACK MAGIC (Werewolves, Fae, and Dragons, oh my! What’s Sade Marquis, a human FBI agent, to do? Solve the crime, of course.), Website: http:/www.silverjames.com

Want: Sam Elliott AND Tom Selleck. There is no way I’m going to choose between these two! Want them both. Like now, please! *waggles brows* I mean, I fell into a potted plant for Sam (seriously!) and I’ve had a thing for Tom without his shirt on since forever.

Wed: Since I’m not a polygamist, I’ll marry either Sam or Tom. Or maybe I’ll move somewhere where I *could* marry both. Because, damn. The sexy just doesn’t stop with those two. I could stare and listen (among other things) all freaking day for the rest of my life.

Waste: Sorry Paul Newman and Clint Eastwood. Y’all are really nice and all but seriously, if I have Sam and Tom, I don’t need anyone else. At all. Ever. *nods*

 **********************

Diane Burton, author of ONE RED SHOE (wannabe writer rescues wounded spy while risking her heart). Buy link:  http://amzn.com/B00FDXRHZA  Website:  www.dianeburton.com

Want: Sam Elliott and Tom Selleck. Whoo-hoo. A two-fer. A menage? Nah. One at a time. Love Sam’s voice. He just keeps getting better. Tom? I’ve had a crush on him since Magnum P.I. (Oops, just reread the instructions. I’m supposed to choose? No way. I’m leaving this.)

Wed: Paul Newman. OMG. His grin, his eyes. (notice which I listed first) His faithfulness in real life to Joanne. <swoon>

Waste: Clint Eastwood Sorry. I did enjoy all the spaghetti westerns. Loved him in Two Mules for Sister Sara. But I can’t get past his behavior at the Republican convention.

 **********************

Qwillia Rain, author of Looking at Rose: Poker Posse 1 — Never underestimate a Southern mama’s determination to find the right man for her little girl —  Website/Blog: http://authorqwilliarain.blogspot.com

*** – Qwilla is offering a copy of  Looking at Rose: Poker Posse 1 for one person who comments to the blog.

Want: Paul Newman, he has classic good looks, but his intelligence, quick wit, and sex appeal make him too attractive to overlook.  Although I doubt very much he’d ever give in. An interviewer once asked if he’d ever been tempted to stray after he married Joanne Woodward. His response: Why go out for hamburger when you’ve got steak at home? The man was intelligent, charismatic, and dedicated.

Wed: Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott (I’ll take both of them, they can figure out how to divvy up the time, LOL) Love both men’s voices, their looks, and their self-effacing manner. Both of the men have fascinated me since I was young. They are strong, dedicated, and determined. Shadow Riders exhibited characters who would never give up to retrieve the women they loved, and that they would make their kidnappers pay for the crime with their lives.

Waste: Clint Eastwood. Despite how much I loved him in the westerns and his run on Rawhide (not to mention the great performances in Trouble with the Curve and Absolute Power) I would have to waste Clint Eastwood simply because he honestly doesn’t appeal to me sexually. Never has.

**********************

Nancy Fraser, author of  A Saved Woman, part of the Lawmen and Outlaws series from The Wild Rose Press. “She was used merchandise, stale bread. How could she ever hope for the love of a good man.” Available now through Kindle Select.

Want: Tom Selleck, not just as a cowboy but in any role he’s ever played (except perhaps the gay newscaster in the movie In and Out). He’s aged very gracefully and is even sexier now. Plus, look at those long fingers! <Fans self!>

Wed: Paul Newman. Loved his sense of humor in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. How can you not admire the man, his charitable causes, and his long and adoring marriage to Joanne Woodward. That was one lucky lady! And, of course, those eyes!

Waste: Clint Eastwood. I’ve never been a Clint Eastwood fan and can’t remember a time when I ever thought of him as sexy.

Wednesday’s Want, Wed, Waste: Valentine’s Day – Romantic Movie Leads

Hello and welcome to my version of the game, ‘F*@#’, Marry, Kill. This week we are WWW’ing Actors in Romantic Movie Roles.

Myself and some of my friends are sharing our Want, Wed, and Waste choices from this week’s list:

Tom Hanks in Sleepless in Seattle, Matthew McConaughey in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, Patrick Dempsey in Made of Honor

********************************************

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of Valentine romance short story, Cupid’s Beau – What happens when a Cupid falls for her target? (ON SALE for only 99¢)

Want: Matthew McConaughey, I LOVED How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, and MM is very hot, but he acts a little ‘off’ sometimes, so I would just want him on a temporary basis. But many times. 🙂

Wed: Patrick Dempsey. I adore Patrick Dempsey. There’s something about him that really appeals to me. I would Wed him so I could Want him often. And if you haven’t seen Made of Honor, you’re missing out. It is such a cute, fun, sexy movie. Definitely a good choice for Valentine’s Day (or any day). He also seems like a good husband, so Wedding him is a win-win.

Waste: Tom Hanks. I like him and respect him, and Sleepless in Seattle was a good movie. He and Meg had good chemistry, but he’s the least appealing of the two. Everyone loves Tom Hanks, so if I actually wasted him, I’m sure a lot of people would be angry with me, so I won’t. But he’s in my Waste category by default.

************************************

Marie Tuhart, author of More Than One Night – Escape to an Erotic Fantasy, Website: http://www.marietuhart.com

Want – Matthew McConaughey – because he’s the ultimate bad boy and so darn cute.  I can just cuddle up with him and have all sorts of fun.

Wed – Tom Hanks – because he’s the man you bring home to meet the parents.  He’s funny, sensitive and faithful.  And not bad to look at.

Waste: Patrick Dempsey – there is just something about him that turns me off.  I’m not sure what it is, but he’s not my type of guy.

************************************

Kathy L Wheeler, author of Quotable ~~ Bloomington Series, book 1 ~~ BE SURE to grab this one, it’s FREE!!! Website:

!!! – Kathy is giving away a copy of Book 2 in the Bloomington Series – Maybe It’s You – A winner will be drawn from the commenters

Want: How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days is my absolute favorite Romantic Comedy. Just typing this out makes me want to drop everything and go put the dvd in. Yum, yum, yum. Plus, Mr. McConaughey is not only a Texas, but hell, was he ripped in Magic Mike. Yeah, I’ll let Matt do me!

Wed: The only part of Sleepless in Seattle that I really loved was when Rosie and Meg were watching An Affair to Remember with Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant (the sexiest man of all time). But who wouldn’t wed a lovable Tom Hanks? Not me. I’ll take him.

Waste: This is ridiculous. There is no possible way to waste Patrick Dempsey. The man pulled a victim out of a burning car for God’s sake! No. I’ll just have to want <i>and</> wed him too. I’m BREAKING the rules.

************************************

Diane Burton, author of ONE RED SHOE – Wannabe writer rescues wounded spy while risking her heart.  Website:  www.dianeburton.com

Want: Patrick Dempsey. Patrick is hot! What my mom would’ve called a dreamboat. Didn’t see him in Made of Honor; loved him in Enchanted.

Wed: Tom Hanks. No question. I watch Sleepless in Seattle every time it’s on and get all choked up every time. Even better in You Got Mail. In real life, he seems very devoted to his wife Rita. Gotta love that.

Do I have to waste one? Then I guess it has to be Matthew McConaughey.  I didn’t see him in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, but I loved him in Failure to Launch.

************************************

Want: Gotta go with Matthew McConaughey. He hasn’t aged all that well, but I’m not exactly a beauty contest winner, either, so I’m not gonna be picky. He still has a certain charm.

Wed: Patrick Dempsey! He has that wholesome, boy next store, killer smile thing going for him and he just seems like a nice guy.

Waste: Wait. Wait just one minute here. I can’t waste Tom Hanks! He’s too awesome and cool. Huh. McConaughey has to go. Waste McConaughey, Wed Hanks and Want Dempsey. Sorry, Matthew. I guess that whole poor aging thing meant more to me than I thought. And you never did “Big” or “Sleepless in Seatle” or “Castaway”…and you’re not the voice of Woody. Ba-bye.

Wednesday’s Want, Wed, Waste: Action Film Actors

Hello and welcome to my version of the game, ‘F*@#’, Marry, Kill. This week we are WWW’ing Actors in Action Movie Roles.

Myself and some of my friends are sharing our Want, Wed, and Waste choices from this week’s list:

Jason Statham, Matt Damon, Gerard Butler

jason matt-damon-jason-bourne olympus-has-fallen-gerard-butler-1-600x398

Click on book titles below to learn more and to be taken to a buy link

********************************************

Me (Alicia Dean). Author of Valentine romance short story, Cupid’s Beau – What happens when a Cupid falls for her target? (ON SALE for only 99¢)

Want: Gerard Butler. He is so, so, sexy. And I loved Olympus Has Fallen, among other movies he’s made. He was tough and smart and BadA$$ in Olympus. And he was scruffy and dirty during a great deal of the movie. Yum!

Wed: Jason Statham. Oddly, I’m not that fond of the Transporter movies and most of his other movies, but he is the quintessential action guy, and he deserves kudos for that. So, I’d give him a Wed. (I thought about switching his spot with Gerard, but how can I NOT want Gerard Butler?)

Waste: Matt Damon. He seems like a good guy, and I love his sense of humor. Also, he’s an amazing actor. But I’ve never thought he was all that hot, and he’s not my favorite when it comes to action roles. Sorry, Matt, I like you a lot, but gotta waste you.

************************************

SILVER JAMES, author of THAT OL’ BLACK MAGIC – Werewolves, Fae, and Dragons, oh my! What’s Sade Marquis, a human FBI agent, to do? Solve the crime, of course. Website: http:/www.silverjames.com

Want: Gerard Butler because…well…duh! Sexy, built, handsome, has a sense of humor and…did I mention sexy? Oh yeah. I definitely want Gerry! And his accent. Mrrrrrr.

Wed: Jason Statham because he drives like the wind, is protective, has mad martial arts moves (makes him VERY flexible 😉 ), is loyal, and I find him pretty darn sexy, too! Between he and Gerry, I will be a very happy lady. Did I mention accents? Oh, yeah. Jason can read me bedtime stories. *nods*

Waste: Matt Damon because I have to waste someone and he’s it. He’s cute, a little on the sexy side but we wouldn’t have much to talk about.

************************************

Diane Burton, author of ONE RED SHOE – Wannabe writer rescues wounded spy while risking her heart.   Website:  www.dianeburton.com

Want: Gerard Butler. The guy is hot! Loved him in the Lara Croft movie. While he does serious drama well, he can do comedy as in The Bounty Hunter and he can sing (Phantom of the Opera).

Wed: Matt Damon. Loved him in the Jason Bourne movies and he seemed such a natural as the father in We Bought a Zoo. Did you know he was a fan (uncredited) in the all-time feel-good movie Field of Dreams?

Waste: Sorry, Jason Statham. I can’t remember him in movies. Either I haven’t seen any of his or he wasn’t memorable.

************************************

Qwillia Rain, author of In A Lover’s Silence Website: http://authorqwilliarain.blogspot.com

Want: Gerard Butler/Jason Statham–They’re both hot and as physically fit as they are, there’s no doubt in my mind they could probably keep up with me in bed. (And I would love to see what they’d do to keep a lady’s attention if there was a bit of competition in the bedroom. LOL-I write erotic romance as well as romantic suspense, menage is all the rage.)

Wed: Matt Damon–because he has the ability to be both an action star as well as a dramatic actor, not to mention the man won an Oscar with his bestie Ben Affleck for Good Will Hunting. Adding to his appeal…the man took his mom to the Academy Awards the year his movie was nominated. So, he meets the action, drama, smart, and family-oriented criteria. And I have to admit, I’ve enjoyed him as both good guys and bad guys in his different films (especially in The Departed and The Bourne Series)

Waste: Gerard Butler/Matt Damon/Jason Statham– I think I could waste all three of them if they got on my last nerve…no matter how sexy or smart or satisfying they are in or out of bed…

************************************

Jill Hughey, author of the FREE historical romance, Unbidden  – Website http://jillhughey.blogspot.com

Want:  Gerard Butler because he is big, gorgeous and seems like he’d be fun. And I like his crooked mouth but I’m not sure that is going to age well. Watching him talk makes me wonder about dental or jaw problems later in life.

Wed: Matt Damon. I think Matt Damon is handsome, intelligent, and thoughtful, making him an obvious choice for the long haul.

Waste: Jason Statham has an awesome voice and sharp good looks. Out of these three choices, though, he leaves me the least interested.

Upon her arrival in Shoal Harbor, Maine, Lily Jackson hears eerie moans that the locals claim are the ghostly cries of the unfortunate Breckenridge women. Running from loss and setback in Cincinnati, Lily needs the job as semi-psychiatric caregiver for Andrew Breckenridge, but the storm she has to weather from the oldest Breckenridge brother is severe. Clinton Breckenridge is a brooding man used to getting his own way, and he’s not convinced Lily is the right person to help his troubled younger brother.

Even as Lily starts picking up the pieces of Andrew’s tortured psyche and finding out his dark secrets, another mystery looms before her. Andrew’s lover has gone missing in recent months and no one knows what has happened to her, or if her voice has joined those of the other Breckenridge women. Before she knows it, Lily finds herself in danger—thrust directly into the eye of the raging storm.

Snippet:

That night, I was in my room preparing for bed when a loud crack of thunder vibrated through the room. I rushed to the window, dread pounding through me at the sight of the darkening sky. Drops of rain shimmered on the glass, and a startling bolt of lightning illuminated the lighthouse. Something flashed in the top window of the tower, and I squinted through the darkness. Had that been a face? That was impossible. The weather was making me imagine things. Another enormous clap of thunder boomed, and I jumped back, dropping the curtain.

I shivered. Stop this. It’s only a storm. You’re inside. You’re safe. I made a concentrated effort to stop the trembles running through my body. Choosing a book from the nightstand, I settled in bed to read. No way would I be able to sleep until the storm subsided. I tried to focus on the novel, but the words might as well have been written in Swahili for all I understood.

My mind kept wandering to the weather raging outside. With a determined effort, I focused on the page I’d already read no less than five times.

A particularly horrendous blast of thunder made me let out a scream. The lights went out, and I was plunged into darkness.

I froze, my legs quaking so badly, I couldn’t climb from the bed. But then again, did I want to? Wasn’t this the safest place to be?

I tried to remember if I’d seen any candles in the bedroom, but couldn’t recall. The storm was frightening enough, but a power outage was terror-inducing. The only illumination was the occasional flashes of lightening across the draperies, which only intensified my fear.

Forcing my legs to work, I threw off the covers and stood. There had to be a candle in here somewhere. I was halfway across the bedroom floor, making my way through the dark toward the dresser, when a violent rattle shook the doorknob.

A scream left my throat. I couldn’t think straight. Terror sent blood rushing through my eardrums, and it was several moments before I recognized Clinton’s voice. “Lillian? Are you all right?”

On shaking legs, I rushed to the door, mindless of the dark. I jerked it open and summoned all my willpower not to launch into Clinton’s arms. In the faint glow of the flashlight he held, I could barely make out his silhouette, but just having another human in the vicinity eased my terror.

“The power’s out,” I said stupidly.

“I know. I’m sorry. There are candles in the bathroom.”

“I wasn’t sure where to look. And it was dark…” I shuddered. “Why are you here?”

“Drew mentioned your fear of storms. I wanted to make sure you were okay.”

“Thank you.”

“Let’s get those candles.” His touch landed on my arm, warm and comforting. He guided me to the bathroom where he released me and opened a cabinet. Several candles, some new, some already used were stacked neatly in place. He grabbed the nearest one. Resting the flashlight on the countertop, he reached into his pocket. Flame from a lighter touched the candle’s wick. He turned off the flashlight and slipped it in his back pocket. The flare wavered over his features, which were drawn into a look of concern I’d glimpsed only a few times.

“You’re shivering,” he murmured. He rubbed his hands up and down my arms. The friction of his touch sliding the silk gown along my flesh sent a skitter of desire over my spine.

I met his gaze in the candlelight. His eyes shimmered a golden green. We stared at one another for a few excruciatingly silent moments. He tugged lightly, and I was pulled against his chest. My bones turned to liquid, his touch leaving languorous heat in its wake. His hands slid upward, settling on my face.

“What am I doing?” he asked, his voice a tortured groan.

Before I had time to respond, he lowered his head and claimed my mouth. The kiss was gentle, his lips warm and coaxing. I opened to him with a small moan, linking my hands behind his neck. I pressed into him while a wave of undeniable yearning ached in my lower belly. Madness. This is madness, a voice whispered in my head. In spite of the truth in the words, I didn’t stop.

Evil lurks beneath the surface in the beauty of the tropics…

After graduation from her small, Oklahoma high school, Liberty Delacort is looking forward to a fun-filled summer before college. But when the people she trusts the most betray her, and a letter arrives claiming her deceased father is still alive, she jumps at the chance to travel to an exotic island to meet him.

But her excitement is short-lived. Her father is dying, and he doesn’t want her around. And, in spite of its outward tranquility, the island is filled with danger and ominous secrets. The secrets soon begin to unravel, and she discovers she is a descendant of Van Helsing, the vampire hunter.

The one up side is her budding romance with the sweet and sexy Ryan Kelly. But even that is threatened when—in spite of her fear of him—she finds herself attracted to an insolent, formidable vampire. Her plan to stay away from him fails when she learns he is the only one with the ability to train her to fulfill her destiny—to save humans from a faction of vicious vampires.

Will her inexperience lead to her death—and the death of others—or will she rise to the challenge and realize her full potential as a Hunter?

Snippet:

Eli moved closer until only a hint of space separated their bodies. “Liberty?” His raspy voice was like a caress over her flesh. A breeze wafted over her bare back, and she shivered. She waited breathlessly for his next words, his next move. “You find me irresistible,” he whispered, his gaze never leaving hers. “You’re helpless to deny me anything. Your knees are weak.” He stroked his finger over her shoulder, letting them trail down to the center of her chest, just above her breasts. “Your heart is pounding for me right now. All you can think about is what it would feel like to kiss me.”

She licked her lips, wishing her glass wasn’t empty. Her mouth was so dry, she couldn’t speak. But oh wow…was he ever right. She didn’t even mind his aggressive, unusual approach. Something about the atmosphere, about leaving behind the trappings of home. The memories of what Cam and Alyssa had done made her reckless. She took his glass from his hand without breaking eye contact. His eyebrows rose as he watched her take a sip of the strong liquor, whatever it was. It burned her throat and eyes, but she resisted the urge to cough. It had done the trick, and she was able to whisper, “Yes.”

The corner of his mouth quirked. He moved closer, brushed his lips along hers, just a tease. That was it? That was the kiss? She bit back a groan of frustration. Her body ached with disappointment. But he moved toward her again, his eyes searching, his lips a hairsbreadth from hers. He stroked a hand down the side of her neck. His touch sent a flash of fire through her veins. She nearly moaned in anticipation, in yearning to feel his mouth, firm and hot against hers. She braced herself. Something primitive deep within told her this would be the kiss to rival any other. She swayed, her lids drifting shut, every nerve in her body tingling…

A scream tore through the night, breaking the spell. Liberty’s eyes flew open, and she gasped.

Eli stepped back. “Dammit,” he bit out. He cupped her cheek in his hand. “Don’t forget where we were.”

Then he was gone. She could barely feel her legs. Were they still supporting her? What the hell had just happened?

She shook her head, then followed the sound of excited voices where the scream had originated.

A group of people had gathered around a gazebo at the back of the house.

Liberty pushed her way through the crowd. Ryan knelt in the center of the gazebo next to a bench where a girl lay still. Her skin was as white as the moon, blank eyes staring at the midnight sky.

Liberty was afraid to look, but somehow couldn’t help herself. She scanned the girl’s body from head to toe. No blood. Good, that was a good sign, right? But the girl looked so…dead.

“Son of a bitch,” a male voice shouted. “She’s been drained.”

One man can fulfill her destiny…the other can fulfill her fantasy.

To quell the rise of evil vampires, Liberty Van Helsing must embrace her newfound Hunter destiny. But she has a great deal to learn, and Eli Barkley—the vampire who has been teaching her—has already betrayed her once. Her goal is to shut Eli out of her life and become a better hunter on her own—and to focus on her new romance with hot Australian, Ryan Kelly, a human she can trust.

But when a rogue vampire begins savagely killing young women, the authorities insist Liberty work with Eli to find the murderer. Liberty must overlook Eli’s epic betrayal and find a way to get along with him if they are to stop the unknown maniac and protect innocent lives.

Yet, the more time Liberty spends with Eli, the more her unwanted attraction to him grows. She starts to question her feelings for Ryan—are they real, or could Eli be ‘the one?’ As Eli and Liberty delve further into the murders, clues surface that point to Eli as the culprit. Can she trust him now? Or will she have to plunge a stake into his heart, breaking her own, just when she’s learning to believe in him again?

Snippet:

“Rough night?”

Liberty jumped at the sound of Eli’s voice. Speaking of darkness and evil

She turned a glare on him. He stood directly behind her, hands shoved in his pockets, yet he’d been in the bar only seconds ago.

“Don’t do that,” she snapped. She looked back at the tiki bar. “How the hell did you…?” She shook her head. “Never mind. You’re a vampire. You move with the speed of light.”

He grinned and slanted his upper body toward her. “Yeah, but we’ve got all that darkness brewing inside. Ironic, isn’t it?”

She swung away from him and took hold of the door handle. “Whatever. I’m tired, so you’ll understand if I don’t feel like hanging out and bantering with you. Besides, your dates are waiting for you.”

“Jealous?”

She snorted a laugh. “No. Sympathetic. Better them than me.”

“Why is it I don’t believe you?”

“Maybe because you’re delusional?” She gave him an overly sweet smile before turning away to jerk the car door open.

“I see you’re still pouting because I didn’t tell you I was once a big, bad vampire.”

“It doesn’t matter. You warned me early on not to trust you. I should have listened.”

“And now you should put on your big girl panties and get over it. You’re a hunter, Liberty. You need to toughen up.”

Toughen up? Was he kidding? She’d risked her life last night, had worked her ass off training, and he was calling her a wimp. To hell with him. She started to slide into the car, but his voice stopped her.

“You can be mad at me all you want, but you can’t completely shut me out.”

“Watch me,” she bit out, not turning around.

“Let me ask you something. What difference would it have made if you’d known in the beginning?”

She slammed the door and whirled on him. “At least I’d have known who—what—I was dealing with.”

“Would you still have let me train you?”

“I’m not sure. But I had the right to know. To have all the facts before making that decision.”

“If you had chosen not to let me train you, how do you think you would have fared last night? Not knowing the truth was for your own good.”

She gave a bitter laugh. “Yeah, and I’m sure you’re all about what’s best for me.”

“Look, you’re going to have to put all that behind you. Like it or not, you still need me.”

“No, I don’t. I’ll keep practicing. I’ll be fine.”

“You can’t take that chance. If I hadn’t saved your ass last night, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”

Just like him to throw that in her face. She huffed out a sigh of irritation. “Thanks, but from here on out, I can take care of myself.”

He stepped closer, backing her up to the door. The only way she could get away from him was to climb inside the car. But she didn’t.

“What’s wrong?” He raised his eyebrows, amusement lifting the corners of his mouth. “Are you afraid of me now?”

She tilted her chin up and met his eyes. Eyes that were molten grey in the semi-darkness. “Not afraid. Pissed off. There’s a difference.”

He chuckled. “Well, it’s nice to know I have an effect on you.” His gaze dropped to her throat. “Your pulse is beating like crazy. Right here.” He stroked a finger down her neck, sending heat skittering over her flesh. Damn him. She sucked in a breath and clenched her teeth.

“I can see it.” He dropped his hand, and his gaze locked onto hers. “No matter how much you’d like to be, you’re not immune to me, Liberty Van Helsing.”

She swallowed hard, trying to slow her racing pulse. “I need to get home. Let me go.”

His lips curved in a grin, and his voice lowered to a near whisper. “I’m not touching you.”

A killer has something to say—and he’s using her obituary column to get his point across…

When columnist Monroe Donovan receives an obituary notice with a date of death two days in the future, she dismisses it as a typo. Then, a second incorrect obituary comes in, and a woman whose name matches the name of the deceased is murdered—on the date listed in the obituary. Now, Monroe realizes that something much more sinister is happening. A serial killer is trying to communicate with her.

She turns to Detective Lane Brody for help, but her attraction to him is complicating her already complicated life. And when the killer turns out to have a disturbing connection to Monroe, complications turn deadly.

Snippet

I went to work early on Monday morning, before anyone else arrived. I wanted to look up some information from when Katie was murdered. Our computers held software that couldn’t be accessed from my home terminal.

I left off all the lights, other than the one directly above my cubicle. Sipping from the mug of hot, strong coffee I’d just brewed, I scrolled through the limited data available about the murder.

The only viable suspect they’d had was Cameron Cooper. He’d been twenty-one at the time. He’d served three years for a rape that occurred when he was a juvenile.

I did a search on his name. He’d be forty-six now. I wondered if he were still alive, if he were still in the area. Had the police looked at him for Maya’s killing two years ago? I hadn’t found anything to indicate they had in my two years of research. Hadn’t found anything to indicate whether or not Cooper was still around. Was he in jail now for some other crime? Maybe another rape? Once a rapist, always a rapist. The question wasn’t had he done it again. The question was, had he been caught and convicted.

Nothing came up on the search.

A noise sounded behind me and I turned. A figure lurched toward me from the darkness. I let out a scream.

“Monroe? Is that you?” a male voice said.

My heart pounded furiously, but I recognized him now. Adam.

“Yes, it’s me.”

“What are you doing here so early?”

He came closer and in the circle from the light above me, I got a better look at him.

His clothing was wrinkled, as if he’d slept in it. His face, however, looked like he hadn’t slept at all. Deep lines etched the sides of his mouth and dark circles surrounded his eyes, their vivid green now dulled. His hair was uncombed. He smelled of stale cologne and sweat. He squinted at me, blinking like he was coming out of a daze.

“I came in to do some research,” I told him. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

He peered at the computer screen. “What kind of research?”

Adam knew about Katie, but not everything. In the two years we’d dated, I hadn’t told him half of what I’d told Lane.

“It’s not important,” I said, minimizing the web site I had pulled up. I repeated my question. “Are you okay?”

He shook his head, shoving a hand through his hair. Shaking his head again, he stared at me. For just a moment, I saw a longing in his face. The old feelings I’d buried surfaced briefly, my body responding to the look in his eyes. I shoved them aside.

“Adam, has something happened?”

“Did you read yesterday’s paper?”

“No.”

“Tabitha’s best friend.” He sighed and dropped into the chair next to my desk. I waited for him to continue. After a long silence, he did. “Tabitha’s best friend was…murdered.”

“Oh, Adam. I’m so sorry.”

He nodded slowly, staring at his hands where they rested on his knees. “Murdered. Tabitha’s a wreck. We were up all night.”

“How did it happen? Do they know who did it?”

“Not yet. She was stabbed.” He drew in a shuddering breath. “Murdered,” he said again.

Not knowing what to say, I sat silently. Reaching out, I placed a hand on his shoulder. I could feel him tremble beneath my fingertips.

“I need a drink,” he said.

“It’s six-thirty in the morning.”

He gave a weak grin. “It’s five o’clock somewhere.” Leaning back in the chair, he closed his eyes. “I can’t believe it. Can’t believe Laurel’s dead.”

A chill weaved its way through me and I shuddered. “Laurel?”

He nodded. “Laurel Lohman.”

My blood froze. I couldn’t speak.

Laurel Lohman was the girl’s name. The one in the obituary with the wrong date.
