New Wild Rose Press Release – Bone of my Bones by Debra Doggett

Please welcome today’s guest…

Debra Doggett with her new Wild Rose Press release…

BoneofMyBonescover

Blurb:

Rose DeSalvo has had better days. Not many but a few. Especially since she left her cheating husband Eddie behind. But Eddie has turned up again to wreck havoc in her life. This time, though, he’s buried among her prize roses. Rose knows she’s got to find out who killed Eddie and get him back to the scene of the crime before she can be accused of his murder. That’s the reason she suddenly finds herself with a dangerously hot necromancer, a zombie ex-husband and a wild assortment of people who seem to know far more about her than she does about them. If she could only get them to tell her what she needs to know before she runs out of time, she just might uncover not only Eddie’s murderer but her own destiny.

Excerpt:

There was something about the etched design in the faded cowhide, sort of a scripted “E” all fancied up, that looked all too familiar.

“Hey, those are Eddie’s boots. Whoa!” With the aid of the side of the house, Leon got to his feet and peered at me with bloodshot eyes.

“What?” I kicked at the dirt with my slipper, trying to push enough of it aside to get a better view.

            “You bumped him off.”

“What are you babbling about?” I shined the light around the edge of the hole Leon had dug. They really did look like Eddie’s boots. Please, please, please, don’t let the rest of him be in them.

“You bumped Eddie off, didn’t you?”

Leon staggered against me, giving me a good whiff  of his breath. I wondered if you could get drunk from secondhand alcohol. Right now I could really use a stiff  drink. I gripped his arm to keep him still. His wavering combined with his breath nauseated me. He peered into my eyes then looked back down at the ground.

“I mean, you always said you wanted to but I never really thought you would.” His voice held the kind of  awe he usually reserved for major sports events and winners of monster truck rallies. It was the most respect he’d ever given my work.

I shook my head and hissed at him. “I did not bump Eddie off. You don’t know this is Eddie. It could be a total stranger.”

“You bumped off a total stranger?” The awe factor faltered a bit, replaced by a note of fear.

And now, let’s get to know a little about Debra:

Are there any tricks or habits you use when creating a story?

I start with scenes that come to me. As they come I collect them and when I feel I have enough to do a rough outline I will make one. Then I work on creating more scenes. It’s the scenes that let me know the characters and how they behave.

What book have you read that you wish you would have written?

It’s called Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and it’s by Jenny Lawson. It’s sort of a memoir and it’s hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time. It’s not so much that I wish I had written that particular book as I would love to reach the point where I can be that honest in my writing.

Do you have another occupation, other than writer? If so, what is it and how do you like it?

I teach pre-school and most days it’s a lot of fun. Some days I’m crying with the kids, lol.

What do you dislike that most people wouldn’t understand?

The Wizard of Oz. I bet I’ve watched that movie fifty times because my mom loved it. I can’t stand it to this day.

What’s the main thing that you could get rid of in your life that would give you more writing time?

The need for another job to pay the bills. I would love to simply wander and write all day.

What genre have you never written that you’d like to write?

Straight historical fiction. I’d love to have the time to research a story like that and write it.

What is your favorite…

Movie: any with Russell Crowe in it

Music: Celtic music

Place you’ve visited: Avsbury, England

Place you’d like to visit: China

TV show from childhood: Gilligan’s Island

TV show from adulthood: Outlander

Food: omelets

Sports team: I wouldn’t even know any to pick

Which do you prefer: Board games/card games or television?: board games

Thank you for joining me today, Debra! Gilligan’s Island was one of my favorite childhood shows too. 🙂

And now, Deb would like to ask readers a question…

What is it that makes a story stay in your head (and your heart)?

Debra Doggett bio

DebraDoggett

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember.  Being a writer is more than something I do.  It is the way I see the world, the way I process it.  I believe in the power of stories.  They make us smile, make us think and give us untold moments of enjoyment. My stories come from the landscape around me and the worlds I build in my head.  I am proud to be a storyteller, and I hope my work leaves you both satisfied and entertained.

The Wild Rose Press New Release Spotlight – A Paranormal & a Christmas Story

Two brand new releases from The Wild Rose Press…

Darkness Unbound by Zoe Forward, Paranormal Romance Novel

When something feels this right, you don’t let it go.

Fun Fact:

My Scimitar Magi series involves Egyptian Mythology…why? I’ve always been fascinated with ancient Egypt and its mythology. I’m not an expert. Creating a paranormal hero group the utilized Egyptian mythology and weaving that into a romance required a tad bit of fascination with the subject and a lot of research. To build this world I read a lot of very heavy books (they actually did weigh a few pounds each) and tried to get a handle on the vastness of the religion, the mythology, the lifestyle, and the magic. What I concluded was that there wasn’t always consensus on the meanings behind myths and symbols. Each expert has his or her own opinion on the surviving hieroglyphics found on tablets and papyri. Then there are the gods…oh my. Did you know there are over 700 Egyptian gods and goddesses? Some had three to five different names. Once you get beyond the sheer number of them they are an interesting bunch. They did a lot of kinky stuff from incest to revenge to killing to curses. Bottom line was after all this research my fascination persisted, but I ended up utterly confused.  So, what did I do? I let my imagination play around with the mythology. Use it, but bend it.  And focused on my heroes.

A Favorite Line:

“They are gods. We are not. Let’s face it, they’re going to win.”

How My Heart Finds Christmas by Gail MacMillan, Contemporary Christmas Novella

My heart finds Christmas in the warmth of memories and the recounting of these tales.

Fun Fact:

I had difficulty finding a title for this book until, suddenly, one day it came to me.  The stories I write about Christmases past awaken the spirit of the Yuletide in me, comforting and reassuring as the warmth and glow of a fire on the hearth. Some ancient cultures believed the heart to be the centre of the soul. Thus the title became instantly fitting.

A Favorite Line(s):

Undulating like mystic spirits gowned in green and white, the Northern Lights rose and rose, then doubled back on themselves to rise again. The heavens danced, alive with their essence.

And now, I invite you to take a peek into my Reaper World….

Reapers of Boon Series

What first piqued your interest in writing about reapers?

I wanted something different from the standard fare of Vampires, Shifters, Witches, and Werewolves. I’ve always been fascinated/creeped out by the idea of Grim Reapers. And, if something creeps me out, I love it! 🙂

What makes your reapers different?

My Reapers exist along with humans, but more or less on a different plane. They can watch over humans, and they are supposed to take them when it is ‘their time.’ However, there are a select few humans who have a ‘reaper sense’ and, if they have a near death experience where they come in contact with reapers, they will be able to communicate with them, to see them from then on. My books are set in Boon Springs, Oklahoma, which is a town with more than its share of tragedy, so the town contains a higher number of reapers than most other locations.

Are your reapers Heroes or Villains?

Yes. 🙂 One thing that I found so much fun about writing this first book was that my hero is a Grim Reaper, and my villain is as well. My villain does not follow reaper rules; he takes people who are in jeopardy, even if it isn’t their time.

SoulSeducer_CVR_XSML

She spent her entire life fighting death. Now she’s falling in love with him…

Audra Grayson became a nurse in order to help save lives. But one night after a brutal beating, she almost loses her own. The near-death experience opens a door between the world of the living and the world beyond. Two Grim Reapers invade her life. One is charming, with the angelic blonde looks of a saint and the black soul of a psychopath. The other is dark, dangerously attractive and, in spite of her distaste for his reaper duties, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him.

When Audra’s patients begin to die unexpectedly and her loved ones are threatened, she will risk her life—even her soul—to save them. But can she risk her heart to an inhuman being whose very purpose is to take those she is trying to save?

Excerpt:

A crash and a scream sounded over the noise of the crowd.

Audra shot to her feet and stared in the direction of the commotion. At a Gyro stand near where Jaxon stood, a small group of people had started to move frantically, some in one direction some in the other. Between the sea of bodies, Audra glimpsed a toppled chair and the prone figure of a man.

A male voice shouted, “Give him room, people. Back off. Someone call 9-1-1.”

Jaxon rushed over to the source of the uproar, and Audra grabbed their belongings, heading to join him as quickly as she could, although her progress was slowed by her limp and the rush of people. Several had vacated their seats and were also moving toward the action, trying to get a glimpse of what was taking place.

Keeping an eye on her target, Audra was pushing her way closer to Jaxon and the hubbub when she spotted the blond ghost. She halted, her breath stalling in her lungs. What the hell?

He was closer to whatever was happening than Audra was. She peered through the mob and, just as she feared, the dark stranger was there, too. He moved through the crowd easily, which was no surprise. After all, ghosts weren’t hindered by mere solid objects. Anger contorted his face, his dark brows drawn over his piercing blue eyes. Forgetting the potential victim for a moment, Audra changed her course and headed toward the dark man, who was nearer to her than the blond. Once and for all, she would get some answers.

When she was within earshot, she shouted, “Hey, you!”

He whirled at the sound of her voice, his eyes momentarily widening in surprise, then he turned away and continued his course.

“Stop!”

Some of the people nearby cast her puzzled glances, probably wondering who she spoke to, but most of them were focused on the drama unfolding next to the Gyro stand.

She was almost upon the man now. “I said stop. You have some explaining to do.”

He barely spared her a glance. “I can’t talk now,” he bit out, still striding toward where Jaxon was administering aid to the ill man.

Before he’d covered half the distance, he came to a sudden halt, his fists clenching next to his sides. “Son of a bitch!”

Audra followed his gaze, and her brow creased in confusion. Through an opening in the crowd, she saw Jaxon crouched next to the fallen man, giving him chest compressions. The blond stood just behind Jaxon, his arms outstretched. Even from this distance, Audra could see an expression of complete rapture on his handsome face.

She looked back at her companion. Unlike the blond’s, his expression held abject despair, his shoulders slumped in defeat.

“Son of a bitch,” he muttered again.

“Someone,” Audra whispered next to him, “had better tell me what the hell’s going on.”

Thanks for asking me to visit today, Alicia. I’m offering a $25.00 gift certificate to Kat’s Kustom Karry Alls and/or Aprons With Attitude to one person who leaves a comment AND an email address to contact them. 🙂

Thank you for being here, and for giving away such a fabulous prize!

Do you have another occupation, other than writer?

I am a retired nurse, currently a raging empty nester as a result of my youngest grandchild going off to all day kindergarten last month. It has not given me any more time to write but I now have a lot more time to sew and I like that a lot.

What do you love that most people don’t like and wouldn’t understand why you do?

I am also a retired victim advocate, a profession which causes many people to develop a wicked gleam in their eye [the tell me all the gory details sort of reaction] or turn away in horror. I loved that job; it made me a better person, a better woman.

What’s your favorite book of all time and why?

Too many to count but “Shanna” and “Ashes in the Wind” by Kathleen Woodiwiss, “Carolina Moon” and “Carnal Innocence” by Nora Roberts make me laugh out loud.

What’s your favorite childhood book?

Mila 18 by Leon Uris. I started reading things well beyond my grade level at a young age—something that caused great consternation among my parents and uncles after I started asking questions about anti-Semitism and genocide.

What is your favorite quote?

Any Ouiza Boudreau dialogue line in Steel Magnolias. Rather, any Ouiza Boudreau line out of the mouth of Shirley MacLaine. I loved that movie. Adored it.

Your favorite…

Movies: Steel Magnolias and The Stoning of Soraya M.

Musicanything by the Bee Gees, George Gershwin and the Four Seasons.

Place you’ve visited: Saranac Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York State.

Place you’d like to visit: I’d love to take a Viking River Cruise through eastern Europe

TV show from childhood77 Sunset Strip

TV show from adulthoodRight now it’s Longmire and Justified

Food: anything except raw fish.

Sports team: Now that Moe Rivera and Derek Jeter have retired I have no favorite team.

Caper Madness…

This attraction: Complete madness or—sheer magic?

P.I. Nick Forrester comes to Cape Brendan ostensibly to assist with Caper Madness, a month long celebration of everything Halloween. In reality he is tracking a woman on the run. Within days he is confronted by Annunciata Doyle, a vivid reminder of a pain-filled past.

After retreating to Cape Brendan in defeat and humiliation, Nunie Doyle’s only hope was to make the best of forced retirement. There, in this quaint tourist town on the shores of Lake Ontario, she earned the love and respect of new friends and neighbors—and put her talent for helping women to good use.

With the mutual goal of making Caper Madness the best ever, Nick and Nunie fight tooth and nail on the personal level, each discovering a new side to the other, sides that make them consider making drastic changes for the rest of their lives.

Excerpt:

Hank let out a holler just before a huge toothy grin spanned the borders of his gaunt cheeks. “Top o’ the marnin’ to ye, Missus!” he cackled to someone exiting the front door of the stone cottage next door.

Taking the concrete steps to the sidewalk in two lithe moves, a woman in a slinky dress the color of ripe tomatoes glanced their way and responded in a distinct Irish brogue. “And the ass end of the day to ye, Mistur Pierpont.”

Intrigued by rich tone of her voice, Nick craned his neck and found one of the witches from yesterday’s parade—minus the droopy velvet hat—passing within steps of Hank’s porch. A bulging garment bag hung over one arm; she looked headed in the direction of the pier at the end of Vincentian Lane. Damned if right then a wind didn’t jump up off the lake and mold the filmy length of scarlet against each curve of her body. Long black hair—and there seemed to be a good ten pounds of it—flowed over her shoulders, caressing her body like a lover as she marched toward Dingle Pier. As his heart bumped into a trip hammer beat, Nick reminded himself to breathe.

“Ferget yer broom, Missus?” Hank called out to her retreating back.

“In the repair shop,” she replied over one shoulder, winging that glorious onyx hair away from lips painted to match her dress. “Gettin’ fitted with a couple of those fancy turbo boosters, it is.”

Hank chuckled, then went back to his coffee. “Turbo boosters. That Nunie Doyle; sure is a pistol.”

An invisible fist reached down to grab Nick’s gut in a vise. As recognition flared, long buried rage took a slow crawling path up his spine.

Five years had evoked more than a few changes in Annunciata Doyle. Much thinner, he noted, but as far as he was concerned she’d always been a bit on the hippy side. Back then her weight was something she’d thrown around with ease—or when the mood suited. When it came to cops, it suited her often. The hair was another matter. Who knew when she freed the ruthlessly tight bun she’d always sported, her hair would fall past her waist in a curtain of black velvet curls?

In the costume of a Witchy Poo—and wasn’t that appropriate considering what she’d done to several of his fellow officers—her current manner of dress was looser, certainly more feminine than the severe straight-jacket type suits she wore back when reporters hung on her every word and judges clamored for her to speak as an expert during the sentencing portion of criminal trials. Counselors and advocates proclaimed her the  patron saint of victims and survivors.

Which, in his opinion, was complete bullshit.

          “You hear me, boy?”

“What? Sorry, Uncle Hank. I got—distracted.”

“Easy to do with that one. Be careful though.”

She took the first step leading into the gazebo. As she moved the thigh high split on the dress opened to expose a slender silk covered leg. “Why is that?”

“Folks around here call her the Black Mamba. Dangerous for any man who shows much of an interest.”

No big secret there, Nick mused sourly.

The Crone his brother officers had called the Director of Crime Victim Services back then. A woman who proved herself fully capable of destroying a man’s career with one carefully placed phone call to the police brass—or worse—the local media. Or, as she accomplished with one blow, dropping a name during during a notorious child sex abuse trial.

The ensuing scandal ended badly for all concerned, including the loss of several careers and, in the case of Nick’s best friend, suicide.

Snow the Vampire Slayer (Farielle Series Book Two) by Rebekah R. Ganiere

Check out Rebekah R. Ganiere’s new release…an exciting story with a unique concept…

Snow

BLURB:

Lady Snow Gwyn is tired of playing “mother” to her seven Vampire Slaying brothers. For the past two years, she’s yearned to be out there fighting at their side as they hunt for bloodsuckers in the black of night. Snow is as good a fighter as any man, but she wasn’t called to be a Slayer. A mere formality in her book.

Prince Sageren, Son of Lothar has spent the last fifty years in exile, awaiting the day when he can finally avenge his family and take back his throne. Barely existing, he’s forced to face his inner demons and the monster he once was, compelling him to vow to never drink from humans again. A simple enough task–until he crosses paths with a human who makes his fangs ache to drain her.

When Snow runs into Prince Sage on a late night trip to the woods, she’s torn between the urge to kill him and the desire to succumb to the feeling he stirs within her. And when Snow’s life is threatened by the same evil that murdered his family, Prince Sage must enlist the aid of Snow’s brothers to not only help him save her life, but to also regain his rightful place as King of the Vampires.

If Sage can keep the Slayers from killing him first.

EXCERPT:

Run away. Run now. He wanted to scream. But he couldn’t. Drink her dry. Make her your own and you’ll never be alone again. He pounded on his skull. His gaze met hers and he suddenly lost all reserve.

One moment he was inches away, the next he grabbed her braid and forced her body against his, crushing her lips with his own. His tongue plunged deep into her mouth. She stiffened at his touch initially, but then relaxed against him. He needed this.

Her supple body pressed against his, her curves sparking every inch of his skin to wake up and pay attention. Out of sheer will, he forced his fangs at bay. He wanted her all to himself at that moment. Just her. The feel of her lips on his lips. Her tongue danced and licked his with a palpable need. Her apparent lack of experience made Sage savor her all the more.

He was dangerously close to losing control. She pushed against him roughly and he let go. Her eyes widened before hardening. Quick as light, she swung to slap him, but he caught her wrist.

“You don’t want to do that, love. You’ll split your palm open again.”

“You had no right to kiss me.”

Need pounded through him, making his body quake. He let go of her wrist. “I didn’t see you protesting too much.”

“I…I…” Her mouth opened and closed several times, but no words formed.

His gaze trained on her throat. The pulsing vein and the thundering of her heartbeat called to him. He licked his lips.

He stepped forward, gripped her arms and locked his eyes with hers. Her pupils contracted and then flooded open.

“You will go straight to the cabin. You will get your things and you will run. Run ‘til you get safe in your bed. And when you wake up in the morning, you will remember nothing.”

Her eyes glazed over and he eased his grasp on her. She picked up her sword and ran. A minute later, the light in the cabin flickered out and the door slammed. Sage didn’t dare let himself even breathe until he knew she’d gone, for fear that he would chase her down and ravish her.

When he no longer heard her footsteps, he fell to his knees and clutched the bloodied gauze she’d left behind. So long he had been in exile, underground. So long he’d denied himself the companionship of a woman. And here, in the middle of a glade, he’d found her. His heart’s desire was a human. What the hell was he going to do now?

The Wild Rose Press New Release Spotlight – A Paranormal & A Crime Story…

I am pleased to host two new releases on my blog today. I’ve read Tequila Dirty, and it’s a fun read. You should definitely check it out. Heart Shifter looks wonderful as well. Read on to learn about both of these stories and please follow the authors on Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Charlotte Copper with Heart Shifter, Paranormal romance novella

Hot summer. Cool water. Dark secrets

Fun fact:

I once spent a week sailing in the North Channel – the location for Heart Shifter. It’s absolutely beautiful!

A few favorite lines:

“Oh, this is nothing,” he said with a chuckle. Putting the pie plate down, he leaned forward and rested his elbows on the counter. “Would you like a piece?”

Mickey J. Corrigan with Tequila Dirty, romantic crime comedy novella

Detective Liam Donell is in trouble when he lets Rita Deltone, a hot chick from the sticks, have her say on a Dusky Beach murder case.

Fun fact:

I wrote the first half of the novella as a short story. It ended with Rita Deltone still “trussed up” in the hospital bed, hitting on the man who is interviewing her. I brought the story to my writing group and they laughed out loud while reading it. But it felt incomplete. So I decided to explore what might happen if the detective on the case untied Rita to give her the chance to prove her innocence. That’s how Liam Donell entered the picture. Although he had been there all along, the silent brooding cop on the case. Observing her. Falling for her.

A few favorite lines:

When he said, “How would you like to make ten K in a single night, no strings attached,” you can’t blame me for sinking into a fake leatherette booth while he fetched us a round. Ten thousand dollars? Might as well be a million. What I could do with that kind of dough. I could change my freaking life.

Kathryn Knight with her YA Paranormal, Divine Fall

I am so pleased to introduce my guest today, Kathryn Knight. I first became acquainted with Kathryn when she submitted a wonderful story to me at The Wild Rose Press titled Silver Lake. Unfortunately, at the time I was only editing suspense, so another lucky editor ended up with her book. Now, she has a Young Adult story that I can’t wait to check out.

Now, for a little more about Kathryn and her latest release…

Thank you for having me, Alicia!

My pleasure, Kathryn.

Where did you get the idea for DIVINE FALL?

I wanted to try a YA paranormal romance this time, and I had in my mind a male character who had both a light and a dark side. The hero had the potential to love, but was also dangerous…a Fallen Angel began to emerge, an outcast in both worlds on a quest for vengeance. His forbidden lineage makes him secretive, but he realizes he must get close to 16-year-old Jamie once he discovers she’s the key to what he wants.

Sounds fascinating. I love a character with conflicting characteristics.

What book have you read that you wish you would have written?

OUTLANDER, by Diana Gabaldon. Anyone who has read it will know why!

I have not read it, nor seen the show, but with all the hoopla, I might have to check it out. 🙂

Do you have another occupation, other than writer? If so, what is it and how do you like it?

I work as a fitness instructor; I teach classes ranging from step aerobics to weightlifting to Zumba, 5 days a week. I’ve been doing it for 23 years now, with only short breaks after having my sons. So it’s safe to say I love it! It’s a great part-time job that keeps me active, which is especially important when I spend so much time sitting at a computer and writing during the rest of the day.

Nice! Yes, that’s a perfect way to stay active for a writer.

What do you love that most people don’t like and wouldn’t understand why you do?

Spiders. I think they’re amazing. They create beautiful, intricate webs and catch and eat all the truly bad bugs. I never, ever kill them. In fact, I don’t care if one’s crawling across the ceiling while I’m in bed reading. We both go about our business.

Uh, yeah, I don’t think most people would ‘get’ that.

What’s the main thing that you could get rid of in your life that would give you more writing time?

Cooking and cleaning. I hate both, but unfortunately, they’re both fairly necessary tasks.

One of these days, maybe we’ll be wealthy enough to hire a cook and a maid, right? 🙂

What’s your favorite childhood book?

JANE-EMILY, by Patricia Clapp. This was my first “Paranormal Romance”, a very sweet historical romance between two young adults, complete with a vindictive child ghost determined to get her way even from beyond the grave. This combination of love story and ghost story resonated with me so much, even 30 years later, that I wrote two of my own for adult readers: SILVER LAKE and GULL HARBOR.

I’ve never heard of it, but it sounds like it’s right up my alley.

I’d love to throw that question back to visitors – What was your favorite childhood book?

One of mine was The Little Match Girl (twisted, I know)

Thank you for visiting with us, Kathryn. Readers, check out her latest release:

DivineFall250

Excerpt:

He gazed out into the night again, his hands still curled around the steering wheel. “My situation is…complicated,” he said. His jaw tightened beneath the pieces of hair falling around his profile.

“Okay.” I wasn’t sure if he was trying to let me down gently or actually explain something. I dug my ragged fingernails into my palms, trying not to think of how perfectly our hands had fit together all night.

Ridges of muscle rose along his arms as he gripped the steering wheel. “I don’t want to hurt you. You’ve been through a terrible loss.”

“So have you,” I whispered. I was beginning to appreciate my complete lack of a social life. This was torture. He was right—I barely knew him, and yet his words were creating a tiny network of cracks in my heart.

“Enough loss for a lifetime,” he agreed dismally. “We should…be careful.”

“Okay,” I repeated. My throat was starting to swell. I wanted to make it to the safety of my own car before I started crying.

He nodded again, as if we’d come to some understanding. But I was clueless. And torn. Part of me wanted to jump out of the car, and the other part couldn’t bear to leave him.

Shifting in his seat, he turned to face me. His hands left the steering wheel and linked with mine, sending a shiver up my wrists. He pulled me in and leaned his forehead against mine.

Our breath mingled for a heartbreaking moment; then he released me with a sigh. He cursed softly. “You’d better go before I do something I shouldn’t.”

Blurb:

After tragedy tears Jamie Brandt’s life apart, her only goal is to finish high school so she can leave her small hometown behind. In the meantime, riding her horse is her main source of solace, until a mysterious stable hand shows up at the barn. There’s something not quite right about the handsome new employee, and the more Jamie sees of him, the more determined she becomes to figure out what he’s hiding.

Dothan Reed came to historic Huntsville, Maryland, for one reason—revenge. But his plan can’t move forward until he finds the missing piece he needs to enhance his powers. As the only surviving Nephilim, Dothan is not only weaker than full-blooded angels; his forbidden lineage makes him an outcast in both worlds. When he discovers Jamie is the key to locating an ancient weapon, he’s forced to interact with a vulnerable human girl—a task that becomes more appealing with each encounter.

Jamie soon learns Dothan isn’t the only one with a dark secret. Each new revelation further threatens her safety, and Dothan’s betrayal shatters her heart. Forgiving him seems impossible, but the thought of turning her back on him is equally painful.

As their connection deepens, Dothan will have to make his own difficult choice: continue on his path of vengeance, or protect the girl he loves. And when Dothan’s actions thrust Jamie into an unforeseen danger, he must seek the help of his enemy…or risk losing her forever.

 Kathryn

About Kathryn:

As a child, Kathryn Knight kept her parents on a constant quest to find enough reading material to last her through each week. An early fondness for books about horses later gave way to a lasting preference for both love stories and ghost stories; as a writer, the paranormal romance genre is a perfect fit. Silver Lake, Kathryn’s debut novel, was a Reader’s Crown Finalist in Paranormal Romance at RomCon 2013. Her second novel, Gull Harbor, enjoyed 19 consecutive weeks as an Amazon Kindle bestseller. The recently published Divine Fall is Kathryn’s first YA novel. When not writing or reading, Kathryn teaches fitness classes and attempts to garden. She lives in New England with her husband, her sons, and a number of rescued animals. Please visit her at http://www.kathrynknightbooks.com or on Facebook at Kathryn Knight books.

Enjoy the wonderful stories AND the fun fact tidbits…

Lynn Shurr with Paradise for a Sinner, Contemporary Novel

The best cure for a lost love is a new love.

Fun Fact: When I first thought of writing a book about a Samoan football player, I figured big, hunky guy,  hot steamy nights–until I discovered Samoans are religiously conservative and very family-oriented. My new theme became Adam Malala’s conflict with tradition ways and his life as a rich and famous athelete. Don’t worry. There are still some hot, steamy nights in the plot.

Liz Flaherty with THE GIRLS OF TONSIL LAKE, Women’s Fiction Novel

Four women whose differences only deepen the friendship forged in a needy childhood…

Fun Fact: I wrote The Girls’ story because I love girlfriend books and because all four of them presented themselves to me, personalities intact. It was so much fun. Jean’s a romance author and pretty much wrote her own story, Suzanne is based on one of my best friends (who recognized herself right off the bat and still talks to me), and Andie is closely related to my sister-in-law Lynn. The fourth friend, Vin, was–and still is, to a certain degree–a woman of mystery simply because I don’t know anyone like her. But I like her. I like her a lot.

Karilyn Bentley with Dragon Lover, Fantasy romance, novel,

When opposing dreams collide, will love be the victor?

Fun Fact: Dragon Lover is the third book in the Draconia Tales series and wraps up the trilogy. I enjoyed writing this story and letting the readers know the true identity of Fafnir, the hero.
