Tuesday’s Tantalizing Tidbits & Teasers – May 22, 2017

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!!

Authors, share your books and feel free to chat about them, or chat about other authors’ books.  (Each week the location of the lines I request will change. You may share info from the same book each week, or you can choose a different one.)

Readers, enjoy the tidbits and such, feel free to comment…like…follow…buy, etc.

WARNING: Some content might be graphic and/or offensive to some

It’s simple to join in… Authors, choose any of your books (one book per author per week, please), and share the following in the comments:

  1. Title and genre
  2. From any page that ends with the digit five, such as 5, 15, 25, 35, etc. (any version, Word Doc, Print, Kindle, etc), from the 22nd line, share four sentences. (You can choose to share sentences that comes before or after, if part of the sentence is on the chosen line-see example below)
  3. Share a fun or interesting fact about the book, the characters, the setting, etc.
  4. List ONE buy link
  5. List your Twitter and FB Fan/Author pages so everyone can like/follow
  6. Optional – List the price of your book, especially if it’s on sale!

Example – For the below, if I were choosing the second line, I would use the entire sentence, the words before and after for this line:  ‘…a red torrent, draining my life as I screamed in…’

If I were using line 5, I could either use the ‘Where had that come from’ line or the ‘For such a’ line, and I would use an entire sentence.

Don’t worry that the line might not be all that engaging, or that it might not make much sense. This is all for fun and to share a glimpse of you and your stories. I’ll be sharing one of my books in the comments so you can see how it’s done. 😀

A new post with a new location goes up every Tuesday…have fun!

  1. Without Mercy – Suspense/Thriller with Romantic Elements
    Lines:
“Are you sure you’re okay? You’re bleeding.”
She shook her head, covering the mouthpiece. “It’s not my blood. It’s Sophie’s.”
Vanessa squeezed her eyes shut, then opened them and glanced toward Sophie’s office again.

    Fun fact:
I always use a celebrity or real person :), for models for my characters. For this book, my heroine was modeled after Rachel McAdams and my hero after Colin Farrell (my current favorite actor…swoon…)

  2. The Mortal Falls (Undercover Elementals, Book 1)

I hollered through cupped hands. “Stop right there!”
The man dived straight into the torrent.
At the railing, I stopped so fast I almost toppled over headfirst. The
waterfall pummeled the pool, churning up foam that dissipated as it oozed
    across the surface.

    Fun fact:
The waterfall in this story is based on a real waterfall I visited and photographed in my home region, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The real one is smaller than its fictional counterpart, but it is in the woods.

This book is currently on sale for $0.99 through 5/25/17.

  3. Addicted to Love
Page 45, line 22: Maybe it wouldn’t sound crazy.
“What are we looking at?” she whispered out of the side of her mouth, pursing her lips together and giving him an insane urge to kiss them.
    “What?”
Fun fact: Usually, my inspiration for books comes in the form of a character I want to write about or an issue I want to address. In Addicted to Love, however, I came up with the ending for the book first. Dan’s confession outside Hannah’s apartment appeared in my head almost fully formed. The challenge was to write the rest of the book so that the confession made sense.

  5. Sacrificial Lam, Mystery/Thriller

“A line from the threatening note popped into his head, ‘fire and the whirlwind shall be your inheritance.’ A trickle of fear rolled through him, and he let his eyes wander up and down the rows of students. Boredom, interest, and finally growing discomfort.
The silence had stretched in the room and students were beginning to shift in their seats.”

A couple of weeks after Sacrificial Lam was published, I started hearing rumors that some administrators at the small college campus I retired from, and which I used as a model for my setting, were expressing concern (should I say paranoia?) about how I would treat the college in the novel. A retired president of the college showed up at one of my readings, bought the book, and said, “I sure hope you made the president look good.”

    Escape from Behruz – contemporary
    from page 55:
I’ve waited long enough. It’s been almost a year since Karen died. My people would not expect me to wait any longer. You will be Jamal’s mother, Olivia. Think of it. He will call you “mother.”

Interesting fact: the heroine, Olivia, and I both had a Lhasa Apso puppy with us while traveling with nomads in Afghanistan.
