Andrea Downing with Dearest Darling, western historical romance, novella
When nothing is as it appears, it may be best to believe your heart
Fun fact:
Dearest Darling was inspired by a visit to the Cunningham Cabin in Grand Teton National Park; the cabin was built around 1888. It stands in quite a beautiful but somewhat isolated spot, high plains leading up to the base of the mountains. The cabin itself is a dogtrot cabin; that is, it has a breezeway between two rooms. I wondered about that design, and decided against incorporating that into my hero’s cabin because breezeways are more common in the south where the need for cooling in the summer was great in those pre-air conditioning days. I thought the breezeway up in Wyoming must surely have filled with snow and caused the occupants many problems. The real-life Cunninghams did, eventually, build themselves a proper house, but it is the cabin itself which stands to this day.

Glad you liked it. I have more info on the cabin at my website–certainly found it strange to choose that style where the snow hits over 400 inches easily in a winter. Thanks for your comment.
