Got two minutes? Then check out this week’s quick tip ~ Sharing Jody Hedlund’s blog on writing setting.
Hello and welcome…I am a freelance editor and an editor for The Wild Rose Press, as well as an author. I often struggle with my own writing, and I have found that sometimes, a little reminder of ways to improve the process can be helpful, so, I like to share these moments of brilliance with others :). But, in this busy world of ours, who has time for pages and pages of writing tips? That’s why I’ve condensed mine down to quick flashes you can read in (approximately) two minutes. Enjoy…
Disclaimer: All of my tips are suggestions, and are only my opinion. And, for the most part, there are exceptions when going against my advice will make your story read better. Take what works, leave the rest.
I wanted to share a post about setting, but since it’s not one of my strengths, I thought I would share an excellent article I found that I am going to refer to while writing. Hope you enjoy…Until Next Time…Happy Writing!
That was a good article. Thanks for sharing. I tend to use less description rather than too much because I don’t like to read lengthy descriptions. I need to use stronger, more evocative words to set a scene.

You’re welcome. I agree. I get bored with lengthy descriptions. The key is a few vivid images to bring it alive in readers’ minds. Thanks, Diane!

Thanks for sharing, Alicia. I noticed that article is from 2011, so you must have bookmarked that post as one to go back to again and again. It’s really a goodie. Setting is so hard to do well, but so rewarding when we get it right. 🙂
